Terror Star 46 Totaled by
Tenacious Torian Terror Troupe

Recon drones provide a horrific image of yesterday's destruction.

6/6/2003

Tragedy struck today in Sector Nine Eight as Torian terrorists blew up the Defense Department's new Terror Star 46, killing thousands. The Torian Confederation, a fringe group of anti-Terra ex Machina fanatics, has claimed responsibility for the terrorist act.

Fortunately, President russellmz2 escaped without harm. Our hearts go out to the families of the victims.

Head to story...

Saints or Zealots?* by Citizen Valamir of the Babylonia Empire

I never cease to be amazed by how the game considers the Altarians to be saintly. They are not. They are zealous, fanatical crusaders, who will cheerfully launch opportunistic wars of extermination against anyone different from themselves.

At least the Drengin are honest about their brutality. The Altarians are deceitful liars who will stab you in the back at the drop of a hat.

I hates them I do.

It's very refreshing to see that the five different AI players all act differently. (As opposed to SMAC, say, where the only difference between Miriam and Morgan are their social engineering bonuses.) You definitely get a sense, after a few games, how the Altarians can be extremely loyal allies, how the Arceans love their starbases, and how the Torians direct so much into juicing their planetary production. It adds a lot of replayability to the game: how you should act if the Drengin are the powerhouse of the galaxy is quite different than if the Torians are, and it's fascinating to see how the game develops in this regard.

President russellmz2 Wins
in Landslide Victory

6/6/2003

The people have spoken! russellmz2 has won the election for President of the Terra ex Machina. At the end of a hard fought campaign, the entire voting population came out to show their support for russellmz2 and his policies by casting 100% of the vote in favor of re-election. Apparently untouched by and unapologetic for the Humans Cheating scandal, russellmz2 went into a long and boring speech where he ended by telling his "punk" opponents that "next time ya'll best bring some kryptonite."

With a his Zero Sentients immigration policy, President russellmz2 has maintained a captive voter base that has re-elected him time and time again. Asked whether the current Terra ex Machina voting population should increase from his single vote to include more, russellmz2 declared, "No! Never, never, never, never!"

The reason for russellmz2's popularity? The voter of the Terra ex Machina explains.

russellmz2 just shares my interests and tastes. He plays the game as I would, and always treats myself to whatever I want. Sure he goes overboard sometimes, like that time he thought setting every civ to evil and himself to evil and the Yor to pure good while making the Yor incredible was a good idea. But I would have done the same thing myself in his place.
