Seti sets off the fight between Ankh-su-namun and Nefertari The Mummy Returns. (and I have no idea what it means ...) |

Now we come to the treasures worn by the inhabitants of Evy’s ‘memories’ back in Thebes when Pharaoh Seti was on the throne. This picture here is very interesting.

You will recognise the scarab pectoral which Imhotep is wearing and the Horus Eye, which Seti has on – they are carry overs from The Mummy and you can find details about them on the treasure pages that film here: |

What I am also interested in in the new film is the new collar worn by Imhotep which seems to be made of lots of little golden scarabs and is rather pretty. Seti also has something new and rather stunning hanging around his neck too. I think the design people have been very much influenced by what has been found in several of treasure caches, the first collection from the pyramids belonging to the Old Kingdom pharaohs (2575 – 2150 BC) and the second belonging to King Tut-ankh-amen. The example below is from the Old Dynasty and belonged to Neferhotep and comes from the real Museum of Antuquities in Cairo. If you have a look at it you'll notice that it has a counter weight (the little falcon's head in the middle) which kept it from slipping down the wearer's chest. Imy and Seti have little counter weights hanging down their backs with Seti's cartouche them. You get to see this when Seti embraces Nefertari. |

Another interesting thing to look at is the golden cartouche - there are two infact - behind Seti. Funnily enough they belong to Ramses II (Seti's son) and depict him as a child. You can tell this as he has his finger in his mouth and is wearing the 'lock of youth' which is a bald head with a pigtail hanging over his ear!
