If you are a guy over 35, then you know this procedure...the prostate "digital" exam. This is a very important part of a physical because the proper funtion of the prostate affects how well what's "up front" functions. I will use one of three positions for your protate exam; standing in a bent over positon (below) fetal positon (in the right photo), or on your back or suping position as shown at theleft. |

Before I check you out with the proctoscope, pictured at the right, you will be given a warm water and castile soap enema. For many guys the enema and the scope are firsts for them and it causes them some anxiety. But be assured there is no pain with the scope and only a few cramps with the enema, so no need to be anxious about it. And, by-the-way, these are not options. If you can't submit to this, don't schedule. |
