CSX Bruceton Subdivision
The "Windy"
The east half of CSX's Nashville-Memphis line comprises the Bruceton Sub of the Nashville Service Lane. The sub consists of 87.7 miles of track from Sellers (in west Nashville) to Lipe (just east of Bruceton yard).
Geography
As a result of the terrain from Nashville to Bruceton, the line is quite curvy and hilly. Starting westward from Nashville, the track first climbs out of the Cumberland River valley. Next it runs down the Harpeth River valley to Kingston Springs, then snakes its way up to the "Tennessee Valley Divide" at Dickson. The line descends from Tennessee City to Gorman, followed by another descent down the Trace Creek valley to the Tennessee River at New Johnsonville. After the river crossing, the line climbs slightly into Camden, runs across the Big Sandy River bottomlands, and finally terminates at Bruceton yard.
