SCI-FI NUTTER !!!!!!
Well, here is the first SCI-FI NUTTER. What I plan to do here is basically tell you all my likes and
dislikes for new Sci-fi programmes from TV and older, classic programmes. OK OK - Some of
you guys are in areas where TV programmes are in more recent seasons than here in the jolly old
UK, but.........sorry.........these are my views ........ LOL !
THIS TIME IT'S A --------- CLASSIQUE PROGRAMME
'The Adventures Of Brisco Country Jr. ' - Well......you may be asking why this programme
as it is more Western than anything else ? It comes under my 'Sci-Fi/Fantasy' view. So THERE !

This series stars the excellent BRUCE CAMPBELL as the title character, Brisco County Jr.
The series is set in the ' Wild West ' in the late 19th/early 20th centry (it was never actually
confirmed what the exact year was !) Brisco is a former law graduate who became a bounty
hunter after the death of his father. He is employed by a corporation to hunt down a vicious
gang - lead by the murderous John Bly. This man and his gang killed Brisco's father, Brisco County
Snr., so he is determined to capture Bly and his gang mainly for personal reasons rather than the
bounty on Bly, and his gang members, heads. The series focuses on Brisco searching for the gang
and trying to bring them to justice. Occasionally, he and his friends get into situations that do not
involve the gang, like helping people in need, sick children and suchlike. Brisco has a big heart and
the courage of his convictions to help the needy for no personal gain - highly unusual for a bounty
hunter.
He is ' Aided ' in his adventures by a number of other characters. Lord Bowler is another bounty
hunter and is Brisco's main ' rival '. However, he always aids Brisco in the end, even if he sometimes
tries to hinder him to get to the ' bounty ' first ! A strong individual, highly self protective and
individualistic, rather than call Brisco his friend, he believes that Brisco will trick him to gain
self wealth, whereas he does not realise that wealth is not Brisco's driving force, justice is. Deep
down he knows this, but never admits it to himself, he prefers to keep others at arms-length.
Socrates Poole works for the company that has employed Brisco to track down Bly's gang and
bring them to justice. He was assigned to ' keep an eye ' on Brisco, to make sure that he is focused
on the ' hunt '. Originally highly wary of Brisco, they have become unlikely friends. Socrates is no
adventurer or horse-rider, but rather than being a constant hinderance, he shows his ' heroic ' side
a number of times, risking his life for his friend, sometimes stupidly and unecessarily, but it shows
his determination to help his friend in any way he can.
The ' Main ' bad guy is John Bly, who pops up occasionally throughout the only season. A real bad
guy with no remorse. He is played by the completely emotionless Billy Drago.
Other semi regular characters include - The Professor - who's wacky rocket-on-tracks invention
helped Brisco on more than one occasion ! Dixie Cousins - Brisco's wily love interest. And
Pete Hutter - slightly dim-witted member of Bly's gang.
So what is it like - OK it's a Western. I absolutely hate Westerns - so WHY is this good ? It's
a great action/adventure programme with stacks of characterization. The cast are absolutely
top-notch. The Main Cast are brilliant (Bruce Campbell has acted brilliantly no matter what he
has appeared in - even TIMECOP : THE SERIES ! LOL !) It is improved even more greatly by
the quality of the guest - stars, who include : James Hong ( Big Trouble In Little China ),
Robert Picado (Star Trek: Voyager), Denise Crosby (Star Trek The Next Gen.), Denis Forest
(Friday The 13th The Series), Xander Berkley (Many Films, plus an appearance in The X-Files
episode : ICE), James Greene (Alien Nation (series)), David Warner (What HASN'T he been
in ????), Sheena Easton (Singer & Highlander The Series), Andrew Divoff (The Wishmaster),
Robert O'Reilly (Star Trek The Next Gen.and DS9), Andrea Parker (The Pretender), Don Opper
(Critters movies) and a few others.
What happens ? Does Brisco capture Bly and his gang ? Well.......you have to watch it to find out !
