Tenchi used to have a semi-normal life before he was invaded from outer space. He went to school. He trained in the summer at his grandfather's shrine, but he was a curios boy. As his grandfather says "Curiosity killed the cat." Tenchi just had to take his grandfather's keys and see what he had hidden in the shrine cave. He found it. A sword. And a mummified space pirate.
Now that he had set Ryoko free and rejuvinated to the form of a beautiful woman, she wanted revenge and chased him to his school. Long story short, the school exploded. Ryoko's freedom drew the attention of Ayeka who brought Sasami, and Mihoshi. They now live with him in his father's house that had been "relocated to his grandfather's shrine. He found his grandfather was Yoshou, the hero of legend that defeated Ryoko and Ayeka's brother. All the women in Tenchi's house are crazy for him which causes problems.
Tenchi is actually the crown prince of Jurai, and he holds the master key to the trees of Jurai, his sword, Tenchi-ken. Tenchi-ken holds the replica gems to keep Ryoko from having them, but it doesn't draw any power from them. It draws power frm Tsunami, the greatest treeship of Jurai. Tenchi does not rely solely on the sword, and has great power copied into him from it. He not only can transform into his battle suit from a ring Tsunami gave him, he can also change the energy he manipulates into actual, physical items. Like clothes and a sword. His sword copies the value of Tsunami and is called the light-hawk sword. It's not only a weapon but a shield. When he uses the true extent of his powers, an Emblem of Power appears on his forehead.

Tenchi-ken, The Master Key
There are many Juraian treeships, and whoever owns one, has a key to control it, but Tenchi-ken has the power to control every treeship including Tsunami, the greatest and first. It can also draw power from the ship, although it does have it's own power. Tenchi-ken belongs to the crown prince of Jurai so it truly belongs to tenchi. It is the most sought-after prize in the universe, but only members of the Juraian Royal Family can touch it. It also holds the Replica Gems for safekeeping, but it doesn't use their power.




The Trees of Jurai:
The trees of Jurai hold power that is released using special keys. They keep the people of Jurai looking young and never let them die, but once they have found soil and srung roots, they lose their power. Yosho held on to life on Earth by using his tree, but the waters of Jurai keep the people from dieing. Yosho was fated to die, but a higher power intervened. Tenchi-ken can control every tree, no matter who owns it. There are many generations of trees, but the power of the tree drops with each generation. The first generation trees generally belong to members of the royal family. There is only one 0^th generation tree, Tsunami. The ship that the tree controls is Sasami's, but only Tenchi and the master key can control it and channel its power. It is an incredible source of power and the flagship of the Juraian fleet. It is known as "The Ten Wings of the Light Hawk" and is a beautiful ship. The trees were believed to have spawned all life from the goddess, Tsunami. They exhibit the same power as Washu's gems which angers the Juraian holy council who wish to keep their power secret and personal.
