Ryoko (Tenchi Muyo)

Ryoko's reputation as a bad-ass and vicious space pirate is well deserved, even if its not really fair to Ryoko.  She was created by Washu using one of her ova cells.  Some time after her creation, Washu was kidnapped by Kagato, her greatest Rival.  Realizing how much power Ryoko had, Kagato seized control of her mind and used her do do his work for him..  It is during this time that the famous 'space pirate' Ryoko, along with her ship/pet, Ryo-oki (who was also created by Washu) was destroying planets and armies.  After her attack on Jurai, during which, most of it, including the royal palace was destroyed, she was chased to earth by Yosho, the crown prince of Jurai.  They fought on earth (and trashed a big area).  By some fluke (maybe he just got lucky), Yosho beat Ryoko in battle, using the Tenchi-Ken (the sword and master key of his ship, Funaho).  Ryoko gains her power from three gems, which she wears one on each wrist, and one as an earring.  These gems are so powerful because they were given to her by Washu shortly after her creation.  They belonged to Washu, who along with Lady Tokimi and Tsunami were sister goddesses in a different dimension.  Instead of killing Ryoko, Yosho placed her gems in the hilt of his sword, and imprisoned her in a near by cave, later to become known as the Mazaki shrine.  

Ryoko was inadvertently released from the cave by a curious Tenchi, who had always been told by his elderly Grandfather the legend of Tenchi's ancestor "Yosho", who traveled from far away and saved the earth from a demon with a magical sword which now, now lies in the cave, along with the "demon" (sound familiar?)  However, Tenchi thinks this a whole lot of, well, crap.  He sneaks into the cave and finds the sword, with it he accidentally releases Ryoko (not looking her best considering she has been there for 700 years).  When she wakes, she finds Tenchi in his school, finding out that Tenchi is the descendant of the person who imprisoned her, she seeks revenge, and does her best to kick Tenchi's ass.  She doesn't manage to to much damage to Tenchi, but she does manage to total his school-cool.  By the end of the first episode we can pretty much figure out that Ryoko has a crush on Tenchi, which leads to many all out wars between her and Ayeka who are constantly arguing and fighting, usually resulting in Ryoko blowing things up.   

The two girls are constantly at each other's throats, but they do have a soft spot for each other as friends (ha!), when Ryoko and Ayeka fight Kagato, Ryoko gets pretty beaten up by Kagato, not using her full power because she knew Ayeka would get caught up in it and probably get killed.  

Ryoko's attitude is pretty cool, she always says what she thinks, regardless of weather anyone else likes it or not.  She has a strong psychic link to Washu, and even more with her pet, companion and "ship" Ryo-oki.  She is very head strong and always ruches into fights and battles.
