Tenchi Mazaki:

Tenchi is the reason the girls are all so crazy.  A normal teenage school student has his life turned upside down when he releases the legendary demon (Ryoko) from the cave in the Mazaki shrine.  He is Yosho's grandson, which makes him the crown prince of Jurai, and heir to the throne (ahead of Ayeka).  But he doesn't know any of this until Ayeka fallows Ryoko to earth and screws everything up.  He works very hard every holiday at his family shrine where he helps his grandfather. His mother died when he was a very young boy, his grandfather (Yosho) had hoped that she could return to Jurai in his place and so he trained her to be a Jurai knight, but she chose to live a normal life on earth rather than that of a Princess on Jurai.  After her death, Yosho started training Tenchi instead. Tenchi is a very gifted warrior (when he gets around to it), and although his grandfather taught him a lot, he has more than enough natural ability to fight.  When he does fight he is a great Jurai knight and always comes through when he is needed.  Because he a a Jurai prince, he is able to use the sword once used by Yosho which is calved from the branch of a Jurai tree, (the sword, which is also called Tenchi is the master key to Fonaho, Yosho's ship). 

 He is extremely kind hearted and honest, he cares for all the girls, but doesn't return the same kind of affection towards the girls as they do towards him, but he cares for them all as friends.

Tenchi chooses not to rule as emperor of Jurai, and like his mother chooses to live a normal life on earth as a student and a farmer.
