The fifth egg in Neva's clutch shuddered, and cracked slowly open, the white muzzle of a dragon peeking out. White paws scrabbled at the thick shell, faceted eyes sparking red with agitation. Liana! I'm stuck! the dragonet called, a shrill cry escaping her maw. Green Minxei peered out of the girl's silvery blue hair, and then Liana moved towards the dragonet. Her dragonet. She carefully walked through the shell-strewn sands to the stuck dragon. She stopped a stride from the egg, and moved around to the left. This caused whispers to circulate, but Liana's small hands were quick to help break the dragon's shell. Haukeath stepped out into the waiting arms of her rider, throwing her white wings wide. Neva's clutch had given Ryslen not one but two solid white dragons. Granted both were covered in snowflakes like Neva' but they were white! The crested white put her paws in the sand where Liana had avoided walking, and brushed the sand away from Neva's buried sixth egg. Had Liana seen it? Or had Haukeath warned her? Dom' seemed pleased when her third egg shattered, allowing the snowflake dusted clouded purple access to the outside world. Boldly the horned hatchling strode towards the candidates, and nuzzled her her head into the leg of one young actress. Dylan looked down at the purple and white dragon, and an honest smile split her face. "Ayazith..." She murmured, and that was all. One of the shiny eggs of Tanu Cheeyath's trio began to crack, slowly and patiently. All three of them had been slowly rocking from the beginning, but none were the remotest bit rushed to hatch. Now, pieces of shell began to fall away, the shining white-silver paws of the dragon pushed the shell away, and curious rainbow eyes surveyed the world as the hatchling lay in half of its shell, patiently waiting. It's hide was pearly white - gemtoned, perhaps. Diamond, certainly. After a long pause, it rolled out of the shell and opened it's white-blue wings, which looked like glitter suspended in glass, with shining snowflakes embedded in them. The Glitz blue turned in a full circle, not displaying his stunning wings, but looking for the one he desired. His sparkling faceted eyes settled on dragon who had been through a lot, seeking her destiny out away from the Weyr. Neva' leapt down from the ledge where she had perched between her two blue mates and landed in the red sands, her gentle touchdown stirring very little sand. Neva', my beloved... the blue winged dragonet crooned, stretching up to touch noses with the white. Neva's eyes whirled in surprise. She certainly hadn't expected to be impressing today!! Iozabinth... Neva' purred, emotion heavy in her voice, and hugged the hatchling close with one white paw. A lovely icy purple dragoness made her appearance from the shells and red sand of Ryslen, opening her white wings as if to show off the silvery snowflakes on them. Maybe for everyone to see, or maybe just for whatever boys there were around to admire her pretty hide. Other members of a group of actors were probably able to easily pick out who would bond this dragon, even if the dragoness was a bit more...outright and honest about her nature. Not that Soleil would ever admit that she was anything like the purple in nature, but... "Come on, Sunayith. We can have some fun with them later." The egg that Liana and her white uncovered cracked, and the spice colored hatchling came barreling out. He unfurled all four of his wings, a menacing presence. Rhyalinth was pleased, as was Neva' - but for an entirely different reason now. The Light duowing scoped out the remaining candidates, and settled on one who was at that very moment considering having the Ryslen crest put on the back of a hockey jersey - a thought that many had previously had. Mike! the hatchling barked, and the young Earth man looked up into those rainbow eyes. "Iztitath, whoa!" A little green, clouded with white came out soon after. Ow! These sharp white things hurt! Bianca, HELP! the dragonet complained in a rather loud voice as the blonde from the acting group rushed forward and scooped up the little green. "Zalinith...aren't you just the cutest thing," Bianca giggled. The clouded green gave her bond the cutest look a dragon could--or at least gave it a bloody good try. If I'm so cute, how about getting me some food? One of the strangest dragons Ryslen had seen so far was looking rather annoyed as the two flitters who'd come with her started bickering and fighting right near where the eggs were hatching. The white and rainbow flitters rolled around in the sand, snapping at each other until their furry draconian bond bounded over and put a paw between them. "Stop it, you--" the mountain dragon Miyuki began, but cut herself short as she got quite a surprise. A blue muzzle with seemingly rippling silver highlights touched hers as a little dragonet broke out of his shell and blinked whirling rainbow eyes. He moved away, pulling himself from shell and sand to brush the clinging stuff away from his shimmering snow-like blue hide. Overall he seemed to be trying act...very mature. Flitters should learn to have some manners. I, Gaewieth, will...I promise, Miyuki! Miyuki smiled at her new 'baby' of sorts. I'm sure you will. The white with cream belly and wings that appeared on the sands was a true beauty, one many candidates would certainly have liked to have had. But instead of going to the one she'd chosen she merely...sat there looking apathetic or maybe a little confused...then after a few moments downright stubborn. What's wrong, little one? Riluth, the green who'd been there as a caretaker for the clutch asked. That's what she was there for, after all...to help these hatchlings find their bonds or at least figure out what they wanted to do. I don't want any of them, the cream dragonet creeled. There's not a bond for me here, and I'm not sure there's a bond anywhere... I think I'd rather not bother with any of it. The cream's expression and eyes cleared, she evidently made her decision. Well then, um...what's your name? the green asked, adjusting her wings a little. Galaikoth, the cream offered. Galaikoth, you're welcome to come sit over here with me and watch the rest if you'd like, the green very well couldn't condemn the hatchling for deciding to remain solo. It was, after all, what she herself loved. I'd like that very much, thank you, the little cream-white chirped as she made her way over to sit with the older dragon. Life away from the North Pole and candidacy chores in the winter climes of Ryslen - even with so many hands to do them -- had begun to slim down a jolly candidate just a bit, and when a decidedly round egg began to crack and a red and white striped paw burst forth, Santa jumped with shock. Candycane socks! The red and white dragon quickly broke away the rest of his shell, and turned his rainbow eyes to the ex-gift giver. When the going gets tough Santa, the tough don't run away. the striped dragon said, and the newest rider knew it was the truth - but if he hadn't left, would he ever have been joined with Holeedaith? The third egg of Xarinaroth's clutch split, and a sleepy hatchling staggered forth, the silver socks on her light purple feet coated in sands, and the shining star charm on her wing beautifully set on the snowy field of her white wings. Which of these lucky girls would she go away with? Eira? Shiso? Deleray? No. Her rainbow eyes turned towards a young man with a pink flit on his shoulder. Jesse.... she said, slumping at his feet in the sands. The actor wrapped his arms around her damp neck. "Tebriniath, my darling..." Who saw that one coming? Faith's last egg split, and the little siamese dragon began to walk sturdily towards a young man who'd had quite a bit of a fall. His blue markings were bright, and his snowflakes were brilliant. I am Metchentoth, Temael. Efellai blinked. Temael? She turned and looked at T'mael who was sitting beside her. Strange. Very strange. Up on the ledges with his bronze, As'mir was smirking... Very strange indeed. Another blue shed his shell, and the snowflakes on his icy hide shone. His wings were white, and like a loyal canine, he trotted up to a young man whose name was Ralen. Eu looked down from the candidates shoulder and chirped. Flur and Bliz, who had been banished by Senorith's roar some time previous reappeared and also chirped at the blue. My name is Lothelinth, not 'chirp'. Ralen laughed. In the stands, Melody, the rider of Night Green Zelphenth observed how much Corvynia's wings resembled those of Krystal Lytharch, the draconic bond of Corylya. Even so, the hatching of the egg nearest the dragon-winged girl startled the greenrider. Diamond paws pushed the shell apart; paws that were very similar in color to Corvynia's wings. With agility not usually seen in a hatchling, the dragonet, who was obviously as Glitzy as Neva's blue got to her feet, and spread her glittering purple-white wings. "Serenitith, I adore you. My little sister, I adore you." Egg shells fell away from silvered-white Adisiath's last egg, revealing the tineest, tiniest little dragon that had ever hatched on Ryslen's sands. The silvered-purple was so tiny that she was no bigger than a large firelizard, very much like a-- Lian dragon! Dameon's silver-marked black Epitath squealed with delight, a very strange sound to come out of such a big brute-looking dragon. CUUUUTE! "Don't you dare go hug it, Ep..." Dameon warned. Aww... the black dragon grumbled, his wings drooping a bit. The little silvered-purple wandered about the sands a bit, looking rather confused, until she sat back on her haunches and creeled loudly. Ashanya! Where are you!? From a perch that she'd taken to to avoid being stepped on, the tiny fairy came fluttering down to the tiny dragonet. "I'm right here, Jaziath... Wow...you're...big!" she exclaimed, blinking up at her little beauty. Only to you, the purple giggled. Besides, we have bigger problems to worry about than my size.. "Like the other Snow Dancers?" the fairy asked. The dragonet shook her head, Not quite yet...I'm hungry! Tasha was the last actor...or actress...from her group standing on the sands. Her mind was preoccupied, though, with worrying about what Soleil might be doing to Jesse. Of course, his dragon would protect him, but... You worry too much, a loud and strong voice said in Tasha's mind as something roughly butted her legs. His dragon will take good care of him! "I suppose you're right, Nevioth," Tasha said with a grin, looking down at the beautiful gold and white horned queen. Good! Now leave that boy in the care of his dragon and pay more attention to me! A lovely Flurry Light green broke shell, and while everyone expected her to go to the girls--or at least the candidates--she padded right over towards the Green Riluth and the cream-bellied white who had hatched earlier. You don't want to bond, little one? Riluth questioned, the light green shook her head. No, there is no one I want either. Besides, I'm certain I can take care of myself... Or at least do well enough with your help, Caretaker! Riluth chuckled a bit and welcomed the second hatchling - Sudodanth -- to a seat with a sweep of her wing. A Light Bronze dragon cracked out of his shell, and turned his rainbow faceted eyes to the only male remaining on the sands. The young 'man' known in some circles simply as 11 looked right back, and was stunned by the acceptance he met there. My name is Zerroth. And yours need not be 11 any longer, if you so desire. Fate was funny sometimes... Four eggs remained - one of Tanu Cheeyath's, one of Soniadoreth's, one of Rhewith's, and one of Kalistath's. However, only three young women remained on the sands. As Soniadoreth's egg shattered, white Paeth took notice, as did the Christmas colored Jublierth. The snow speckled Twilight Purple shook open her wings, and headed straight for "their" candidate. Eira could only stare. This entire hatching had been so bizarre for her. Purple dragons? Dragons of multiple colors? Dragons with more than two wings. Was this for real? A fair of blizzard winged flits encircled her head, and the purple-silver dragoness laughed. Of course it's real, Eira, my rider. I am Aiath. "Aiath...?" The name was strange, but familiar, as though she had known it all her life. A'ban had a smug little smile on his face that even Candida was surprised to see. Rhewith's egg yielded a silver-bodied dragoness with sunset-colored wings. The hatchling stretched and yawned, but did not move far from where she hatched. She lay at the feet of a stone sculpture that hadn't been there the day before. It looked quite like the work of Hasalenn, the relative of the cantankerous searchrider J'lenn...and unsurprisingly Hasalenn was right there in the stands behind it. The hatchling seemed to be waiting for something. The hatching had taken several hours, and the sun was dropping in the sky... the sun would be setting any moment. As night fell, Hasalenn's 'creation' stretched and roared, a stone 'skin' shattering off her as the eggshell had shattered off of the sunset winged creature at her feet. Took you long enough Jilly! the dragon said, standing. The young gargoyle looked at the dragon. "Konjakuth? I dreamed..." J'lenn seemed angry, but Hasalenn was pleased. Two eggs, two girls... It seemed Tanu Cheeyath's egg would be last, as the other split open to reveal a snowy Light purple... but which would she choose? The winged Shiso, or Deleray? It was no question for her, and she bounded right to Deleray's side. Sevuwenth is my name. the hatchling said, and Deleray could not help but smile, and Savior swooped down a lofty perch to make the snowy dragoness' aquaintence. Shy appeared in the doorway then, smirking as this young woman who was his companion, but not his creation faced down the last egg on the sands. Surely it was hers. Who else was there? The egg cracked, and the pieces slowly fell away, revealing the diamond bodied dragon that was now expected from Tanu Cheeyath's eggs. The lithe hatchling extended silver glittering wings which would someday be as wide as any golden queen's. Shiso... You've waited and waited and waited... and now I'm here. Only Shiso would be able to decipher this cryptic message, but the winged woman knelt in the red sands and embraced the hatchling. "Itsumoth..." With eighty-six dragons hatched (excluding the HyDragoness), this Flurry was only three eggs shy of being equal to the first Flurry. At any rate, Ryslen's weyrling barracks were going to be full to capacity for quite a while. Fortunately, Weyrlingmaster D'lrik and his brown Auresanth had two new assistants on hand. J'ti, rider of brown Ishikirith and J'kan, rider of brown Itaoth. Tiyanni and J'kosh were proud of their sons, and Jeyann was assured that the rides coming out of Ryslen would be properly trained with her brothers in charge. It was beginning to look like Ryslen was a family business! Tiyoshi, rider of Gold-Green Valaeryth was her right hand woman, and an excellent recordkeeper, and Toshi's black Shouraith was Ryslen's newest Searchrider. The feast for the hatchlings preceeded a large feast to honor the new riders, and feed all the spectators. The musicians had promised quite a bit of lively dance music - and with luck Cezaris and Aureliane might treat them to a performance? Ryslen could only hope. What would become of the 86 new dragons and their bonds...? Flurry Dragons & Bonds! | ||||
