KEEPSAKES

Keepsakes...how we cling to them!
Things gathered on life's way,
Waking thoughts and recollections
Of some bygone day;

Stirring up old memories
Of laughter and of tears-
Odds and ends long cherished,
Growing dearer with the years.

A cross, a fan, a photograph;
A watch now past repair;
A flower pressed in a Bible;
Books and beads and locks of hair.

Meaningless to strangers-things they
Would not look at twice;
But to you who keep them, they are
Treasures without price.
