SNOW TRACKS
I love to be the first to make
Tracks on the driven snow,
Bent on a bit of adventuring
And laughing as I go.
There with the snow still falling
In a wonderland of white,
I stake my claim as first to see
The peaceful, awesome sight.
All man-made paths are drifted shut,
The world is mine to roam;
What fun to venture forth in snow
A little way from home.
My steps like
giant-tracks appear,
A backward look reveals;
I find myself believing that
A giant stalks my heels!
I love to be the first to take
Steps in the trackless snow,
Adventuring with baited breath
And laughing as I go!
