TIME TO GO FISHING

Time to go fishing; to sit in a boat
Or wade in a stream,
To wear an old hat, an old shirt and no coat
And maybe dream.

Time to go fishing: away from the town,
Its stress and its strain,
To depart from the shore, every burden put down,
And be humble again.

Time to go fishing; pride's vestments to leave
On a hook or a shelf,
To drop all the shams that so often deceive
And just be yourself.

Time to go fishing; no matter the spot
Or sunshine or rain,
And return to the town, whether lucky or not,
To brave life again.
