Off to School. . .Again

diminutive child shivering
shouting, in carnage percieved
in a delicate and tender world

words, like thunder passed
looks, like lashes flashed
haunted in fearful gazes

world uptumbled and gashed
security jumbled darkly
in a tentative world

drunken tirade in a flash
blows struck, glasses smashed
heartbeat stricken in horror

by morning's light
it's off to school
again... to learn
