Generously butter the insides of a small, 1" - 2" deep baking dish.
Line the bottom with sliced potatoes. Sprinkle with salt, pepp=
er, and some of the two cheeses. Top with another layer of potatoes and
continue layering with the cheese, salt and pepper until all has been used.
Combine the milk and cream and pour over the potatoes. There
should be enough to just come to the top of the potatoes. Do not cover the potatoes with the milk/cream.
Sprinkle the top with bread crumbs and additional cheese and bake until the potatoes are tender, about 1 hour.
