INTERIOR: INSTRUMENTS

Three large dials house the essentials. The one on the left contains water temp and fuel gauges, plus six warning lamps. The speedometer thrones in the center, and to the right there is either:
- A blanking plate. (L, X7 and such)
- A large clock. (GL. GLs, GLE, GLi, LE, 90)
- A rev counter and a small clock. (EMS, Turbo, GL 5sp from m83, 90 5sp)
The styling of the dials were slightly altered, in terms of color, sometime around seventythreeish. And were given a major makeover as of m82 models.

In addition to this, all 99 turbo's had a 52mm pressure gauge, in a pod on top of the facia panel, next to the a-pillar. As of m82, some 5speed 99's were equipped with the same pod, now housing a gauge that measured the opposite. A vacum gauge! Saab must have made more pods than 99 turbos...

Personally I think the turbo gauge looks like a tacked on afterthought. (Which isn't far from the truth, either).
On the 900, they managed to integrate the pressure gauge in the combined-dial, together with the water temp and fuel gauges. It tidyed up the dash a bit, but did away with the warning lamps.

Some people choose to apply white dials but I'm quite happy with the original colors. If my car was an original m78 turbo, I would have kept it... original. But it's not. It is slowly turning into a "modifyed special". So why not modify the instruments to suit aswell? Here goes:

I started off with the cluster from an m82-87, naturally with a rev counter, and the combined dial from an early 900 turbo.
