STEERING WHEELS

All 99 and 900 steering wheels have identical splines and horn contacts.
Therefore, all steering wheels are interchangeable. (Exept the late 900's with air bag)

The 99 steering wheel angle has always been criticized for resembling a schoolbus, but it wasn't until 1984/85 during the 99/90 makeover, that Saab adressed this. The angle changed to 29 degrees, instead of the old one's 33 degrees. Believe me, those four little degrees do make a difference.
This was acheived by means of a longer lower and shorter upper steering shaft, so the latter could be attached higher, at its front end.
A steering shaft assembly from a Saab 90 can be bolted straight into an older 99. (Exept a GLE.)
