Ghost of a Chance by Avalon and
Marie Endres
154K | Rated: NC-17 (no kiddies, please!)
Classification: X (sort of), S (definitely), MSR (absolutely)
A (all over the place), Doggett UST (but
NOT DSR, OK?!?)
Summary: A phone call from his estranged wife forces
Agent Doggett to confront his demons,
dragging Mulder and Scully along with him
into the abyss.
Comment: Nicely developed, with an intriguing premise.
Mulder and Scully play big parts.
37K | Rated: PG-13 (for language)
Classification: S/D friendship
Summary: Scully and Doggett discover that some wounds require more than stitches to heal.
Comment: Scully and Doggett continue to adjust to Mulder's death
in this well paced story. (Stands alone, but the rest of the series is here.)
257K | Rated: A strong R for violence, language, and sexuality.
Classification: Doggett/Other. A Doggett/Reyes case file complete with romance, magic, mayhem, friendship, drama, sex, angst, violence,
and...birds!
Summary: Face it, John: Normal life involves family. It involves
recreation. It involves friendships with people you *don't* work
with. It involves companionship with the opposite sex. And if you
were really lucky, it might even involve love. He missed the man
he'd been. That man would have kissed that pretty woman in a way
she wouldn't have forgotten. Where the hell had he gone?
Comment: This story has a little of everything, including an absorbing case file. It stands alone quite well, but since one of the original characters previously appeared in
Intuition and Empathy,
reading those stories is also recommended.
14K | Rated: PG
Classification: Doggett Angst, MSR
Summary: "*She* never blamed him. I envy him a
love like that." Doggett's POV.
Comment: A sympathetic look at Doggett, focusing
on his feelings toward Mulder and Scully.

30K | Rated: PG-13 (for language)
Classification: Scully/Doggett, Doggett-friendly, angst
Summary: Scully and Doggett walk through the valley of the shadow of
death.
Comment: Another strong installment in this series, this one deals with Scully and Doggett's reactions to Mulder's death. All previous stories are linked to from the title page.
171K | Rated: R
Classification: Pre-XF, Doggett, Reyes
Summary: It's fatigue, John, he told himself. Not stress because your wife is pissed off at you, you might miss your kid's kindergarten graduation, and you ditched a perfectly good career in order to become a glorified secretary.
Comment: Includes a very interesting take on Reyes, and watch for that foreshadowing.
28K | Rated: PG-13
Classification: S, A, fill-in-the-blanks for Three Words (lots
of Doggett...deal with it...)
Summary: Somebody had to tell him...
Comment: Everyone has to adjust following Mulder's return. Nicely paced, and the ending is just right.

Summary: Doggett discovers how events in "Tithonus" have
changed Scully's life.
Comment: This one, like the author's earlier Get Ready, is a really nice example of the Doggett/Scully bond.
164K | Rated: over 17's m/m
Classification: John Doggett/Walter Skinner : Humour/Slash
Summary: Standalone story. Doggett undercover, juicy situation, extreme possibilities and all the product of a very twisted imagination.
Comment: Forbes makes great use of humor in this offbeat Doggett/Skinner story.
20K | Rated: R for harsh language
Classification: Doggett
Summary: "I'm gonna listen at half-opened doors, in
public restrooms and the cafeteria and on the fu*****
street and anywhere else I hear people talk about her. About *them.*"
Comment: Very strong Doggett voice. I could hear him
throughout.
80K | Rated: PG-13
Classification: Doggett/Scully Friendship/Colonization
Summary: Doggett risks his life to carry precious cargo --
Scully -- across country to Mulder and safety as the alien takeover begins.
Comment: Doggett/Scully bonding, gripping action sequences,
a plausible development regarding William, an open ending... I want a sequel!

In Dreams by JiM
28K | Rated: PG for language
Classification: Skinner/Doggett

Comment: This carefully crafted "Via Negativa" follow-up features outstanding Skinner/Doggett interaction.
22K | Rated: PG-13 (for language)
Classification: Scully/Doggett vignette, Doggett-friendly
Summary: Scully and Doggett find that a little sun, a little sand, and a little conversation make for a healing prescription.
Comment: This story is part of a series, but it can stand alone. Another fine effort from a dependable author.
18K | Rated: Hey--it's G!
Classification: Reyes. Doggett. Doggettfic. Doggett! Doggett! Doggett!
Summary: 'It was getting harder and harder
to forget. And easier and easier to remember.'
Comment: A sad but hopeful Doggett angst piece.
150K | Rated: NC-17 (Language, Violence, Sexual Content)
Classification: X, MSR, Mytharc, Character Death
Summary: The Apocalypse is at hand and G-Men Mulder, Skinner and Doggett bust their asses to fight for the future of mankind. They face life and death, good and evil, courageous heroes and dastardly villains. Redolent with testosterone, the language is harsh and the men are manly. And of course, there is a damsel in distress.
Comment: Don't let the length dissuade you from reading "Sieg und Verlust." The action and the Mulder/Doggett dynamic, especially, make it worth the time.

Comment: A nice, light "Medusa" post-ep.
29K | Rated: PG-13 for language
Classification: Scully/Doggett friendship. MSR. Mulder-lite.
Summary: "...anybody who fit such a perfect Bureau mold couldn't
possibly understand the X-Files."
Comment: This author's first fanfic submission in six years. Let's hope for more soon.
54K | Rated: PG-13+
Classification: Angsty drama, or dramatic angst, or dramatic action,
or angsty action.... well, whatever....
Summary: Doggett comes through his Dark Night of the Soul with Scully's able assistance.
Comment: A continuation of the events in Querant: The Chariot. It would also help if you read the first story in the series, Querant: The Hanged Man. They're all well worth looking at. This installment brings a lot of action, much more Doggett angst, and some Doggett/Scully bonding.
15K | Rated: NC-17
Classification: Scully/Doggett, smidgen of MSR
Summary: The ascending stage of a cycle.
Comment: Not a word is wasted in this sometimes off-putting but always fascinating story.

103K | Rated: NC-17, for explicit eroticism.

20K | Rated: PG
Classification: V, A, S, D. Scully/Doggett UST
Summary: Some feelings, like some bodies, don't always stay buried.

Summary: Doggett and Scully deal with an awkward issue in their partnership.
Comment: Progresses well from part I.
45K | Rated: Somewhere beyond PG-13.

Comment: Sequel to Querant: The Hanged Man, recommended below.
48K | Rated: PG-13?
