This fight was pretty close, but
should not be considered a gift decision for Ali. He had more stamina
at the end of the fight and that made the difference, plain and simple.
Jones did have a good style to face Clay at this point of his career.
He had quick straight punches, and he was quick on his feet. When
the crowd boos a fighter at the end of the fight and he wins pretty convincingly
that shows how much is expected of him. I think that this what happened
in New York against a home town fighter. If you make predicitions
and are wrong, this can happen. It's just that Clay wasn't used to
being wrong. He would be right again in his next fight, although
the Cooper fight was MUCH tougher then this one. Jones would hang
around the top ten for a couple more years and would lose to Ernie Terrell
in 1966 for the WBA portion of the heavyweight title. He finished
with a career record of (30-10-1) 19 Ko's. Clay would become Ali
and become the Greatest of All Time.
