Chapter 4: Inside the Heart of Stone |
Ala sat with her legs crossed facing Heero. She took in his every feature, from his soft relaxed face to his chest which was heaving in a soft rythem. A small orb had appeared around him slowly. She sighed in a whimsical way at him. he was so handsome and strong. She grit her teeth together in frustroation and shifted her thoughts to the task at hand. "That`s right Heero, draw it out. Imagine it as a bottle that you are opening slowly." |
Heeros complacent face shattered suddenly and his teeth clenched. She saw the orb getting brigter than softer. Under her breath she cursed as she dove into his mind. It was a clash of black and white causing a turbulant wind of debree with lost faces floating in it. She wanted to get out but if his power were unleased the world could suffer. |
She saw Heero up ahead in the mental storm and called out to him. He turned to her in an almost absent minded manner. "Why can`t I control it?" |
She stared at him. "Heero, do you live with this every day?" He responded by a look of dread. She understood. All his pain was locked away in there and he was constantly fighting it but now that he was fighting his power he couldn`t fight it too so his power got out of control. |
She sighed. "Heero, imagine your power as a dragon that is tearing at you. Try to control it and capture it." Heero closed his eyes and the turbulance slowly subsided. She came back to reality and saw that he was in full control. He had the ability to create a wall around him that protected him from anything. She wondered vaugely Briton wanted that power. After he opened his eyes they went to sleep. |
Ala was strapped to a table under a light and there was a faceless figure hovering over her. "Gone are the days when men will harm my daughter. With every bat of her eyes she will bring a man to his knees. Her heart will never be marred again and she will never love unless it is uninvited..." |
"Mommy no!" Ala hoped her mother would change her mind but it didn`t happen. The small poker was jabbed into her side making her scream out in pain. |
Ala sat up panting and she looked at Heero`s limp body as he slept. Stupid dream. She stood up finally and poked at the fire hoping it would ease her frustration. It didn`t. Why did this happen to her? Who would wish this on their own daughter? She thought of her emotionless heart. She hadn`t felt anything for so long but now... |
Heero woke up in the mourning still a little groggy from the day before but refreshed from the nights sleep. Ala was no where to be seen and so he took a step out of the small cabin and saw her in the field in front of her house. He walked up to her and saw she was crying. "Ala." |
She snapped her head up to face him and he saw that they were tears of anger. "Do you know what you`ve done! You just drop in unexpectedly and uninvited and take over! I`m sick of men like you playing with my heart!" |
Heero blinked but resumed his composure. "I don`t know what you`re talking about. I appeared here but I`m not playing with your heart in the least." |
Ala stood up and wiped her tears away. "I worked my whole life to avoid men like you! I hate you!" With that she turned and ran. Heero watched her go and turned to go back into the cabin. He didn`t know what to do now. |
