Understand - it's not 'why'
you might behave in a certain way.
It's easy to know why you might do something,
or react in a particular way to an event.
It's usually a combination of what you were taught at
school, church etc,
how you were treated by your parents, guardians and associates
as a child or teenager, the opinions you have formed from
those events, the environment you grew up in,
and something in your nature which
causes you to think of yourself
in a particular way.
Knowing why you think of yourself in certain ways
is certainly helpful in discovering the cause
of a problem or a success.
But it hasn't got much to do with magical thinking or
the
Ways of the Wise Ones, since we all have some sort of
history or other to look back on and analyse
if we choose to, yet not everyone who
does that ends up on the path to
magical awareness.
To gain - magical - insight into yourself it's
necessary to know - how - you are.
To know the thoughts running through your mind
and the emotions attached to them.
To be able to stop at any moment and say to yourself
- 'this is how I am AT THE MOMENT'-
and to say it without any form of judgement
or need for reward or punishment.
This is similar to 'being' in the moment.
But this is an act, not only of experience,
but of comprehension.
'Knowing' the moment.
Understanding it and yourself at the same time.
I say again that you will need a teacher or guide to
assist you in this - at least at the beginning.
This guide will be one who is able to observe *you*
- and help you observe yourself -
dispassionately and at will.
More importantly, this guide will also be able to help
you with what to do next - when you have achieved
your ability in personal observation.
Begin this as soon as you can - the sooner you
start the sooner you will find your guide.
Remember ...
" When the student is ready the teacher
appears."
