"Rainy Days and Mondays" is the title of a favorite song from my childhood by The Carpenters, just in case you were wondering. It makes me think of cold, wet days when I just want to curl up by the fireplace with a cup of hot cocoa. It is often during these moments that inspiration strikes me. The following pages will be a collection of various pearls of wisdom, poetry, creativity, and humor. Take a little time and enjoy yourself.

Through a Child's Eyes

In the gloaming we can sense
Their presence getting stronger
As our guards go down
We are vulnerable to their song
To their lyrical beauty
Somewhere in the twilight
They reveal themselves
To the inner child in us all
We revel in their frolic
We admire as they dance
Envious of their charmed life
They circle our soul
And play with our hearts
Enchanting us with their touch
As dawn soon breaks
We awaken from our slumber
And once upon a dream
They sprinkle their magic
Knowing it is not sleep
That we rub from our eyes

Neptune's Daughter

A woman without her legs
A mermaid without her fins
Her beauty blurs the line
Where earth ends and heaven begins
Her father's kingdom reigns
Somewhere in the deep
Her spirit flies so free
Without a promise to keep
Like a brilliant sunburst
A fantasy like no other
Rises from the depths
Known as Neptune's daughter.

Morning Glory

Nestled in the earth
And hidden beneath the snow
Lies a cluster of blossoms
Just waiting to grow
When nature pulls back the covers
Of its blanket of white
Tiny buds slowly peek out
Stretching in the sunlight
Though their petals are dainty
Warm rays bring them strength
Until they dot the landscape
Blooming at full length
Nature sighs with a gentle breeze
Marveling at her garden so vast
As Winter rolls up its quilt
And Spring awakens at last

Dance of the Heart

Shaking like a leaf
He stood under the willow tree
Clutching the tiny box
In his one hand tightly
The other open and waiting
For her fingers to entwine
With his to send a signal
To his anxious heart and mind
That now was the moment
For he opened his mouth to speak
The words danced about his tongue
Describing a love so unique
His words yearned for her
To waltz through this life
To hold each other close
To make her his wife
Her sweet kiss blessed his lips
With a promise of love
And a dance of romance
He could only have dreamed of

Heaven Sent

Inside a tender womb
And an angel's haunted eyes
Lingers a tiny secret
Caught in a web of lies
A seed was planted
The fruit of a passion
Tainted by fate
And a dangerous obsession
Cursed by a past
Time takes its toll
Opening an angel's eyes
To reveal an old soul
Blessed by a birth
She cannot take part
An angel bequeathes the gift
Of an enduring heart
Though spawned by a deed
And a love never meant
An angel's child grows
Seemingly heaven sent

The Glow of Youth

Being a parent already
I've made my share of mistakes
And made my share of discoveries
Through my little boy
I see the world with
His wide-eyed curiosity
The sweetness of his youth
The innocence of his heart
Has touched my jaded view
It is encouraging to know
That my little girl will only
Add her own little glow
With the sunshine that is her smile
And the warmth that is her love
I've learned the hard way
How to do things the right way
