| Lightning Surge Testing on CPE and Surge Protector Devices |
| All Customer Premises Equipment such as telephone, adsl modem, voip phone, autodialer, sms phone and soon are required to be tested with lightning induce test to ensure the products are save from deterioration when lightning occur. For high AC power system, the surge protector for 3 phase and single phase must be tested to see the let-through voltage of the equipment. Based on the normal standard for 20kiloVolt lightning strike test the let-through voltage should be less than 1000 Volt and for 6kV lightning test it should be less than 800 Volt. By measuring the let-through voltage then we can know how good the surge protector works. For the CPE devices, the product should perform as normal after undergo the lightning induce surge test. The standard lightning test for CPE is 4 kilo Volt and 6 kilo Volt under ITU-T K.21 and ITU-T K.20 standard. Category “C” and “B” High Voltage Testing Procedure Voltage Rating Cat C: Combination waveform of 20kV, 1.2/50?s and 10kA, 8/20?s. Delay time for test : 60 seconds Cat B: Combination waveform of 6kV, 1.2/50?s and 3kA, 8/20?. Delay time for test : 20 seconds EQUIPMENT 1.
