A Tribute to The Soldier of Ice

Ami Mizuno, or Amy Anderson was the third scout to be discovered, after Sailor V and Sailor Moon. Wielding the powers of water and ice, she is a powerful foe against certain enemies. However, she is the Sailor Senshi's strategist, being the brains of each of their "operations".

At first, she was an outcast; people disliked her because she was so smart. Luna had some strange vibes from her, and went to investigate. Usagi "caught" Luna investigating, and the two became friends. Though Usagi's intentions were, at first, to get help with her homework from Ami, the two quickly became friends. Later, it was discovered that Ami was no enemy, as Luna first suspected, but the Soldier of Water, and the Fighter of Wisdom, Sailor Mercury. In her introduction speech, she calls herself "The Brilliant Fighter, Sailor Mercury!"

Ami's parents are separated, but not divorced. Her father is a painter, and her mother is a doctor. Her father is soley responsible for Ami's incredible swimming skills. Ami wants to take after her mother and be a doctor -a pediatrician, specifically.

She studies very hard... she is rumored to have a 300 IQ in the manga. She attends a daily juku, or cram school, which is referred to as "The Albert Einstein School For The Gifted" in the American dub. When she first appeared, she went to a computer cram school that was called "Crystal Academy". She had transferred (for unknown reasons) from "Brighton Academy" to Crossroads Junior High (Juuban Junior High in Japan). She is in the same grade, but a different class than Usagi and Makoto.

Because she was the first senshi to team up with Sailor Moon, she understands the pains of being a senshi better than any of the others, who embrace their newfound powers and past lives a bit easier.

She is very loyal to her friends, having sacrificed a chance to study abroad in Germany to stay with them as a Senshi. She trusts her friends in every situation, even when she was under the spell of a particularly nasty droid. Beacuse of this, she is very inspirational to people, including Chibiusa, Hotaru, Usagi, and Minako. Urawa (Greg) also trusts her explicitly, as she fought one on one with Evil Endymion just after they first met.

In the "SuperS" manga arc, each of the Inners, save Minako, develop a special connection with one of the Outers. In Ami's case, it is an intelleuctual connection with Setsuna, or Sailor Pluto. When Ami is in danger of getting taken over by lemures, her guardian, Guardian Mercury, tells her to think of her friends... Ami remembers Setsuna's words: "Always prepare against the enemy, and be calm. Believe in yourself so that everyone can depend on you. The right answer is always within you. You are everyone's brain..." And knowing this, and her true dream to know more in order to protect her friends, she uses the Mercury Crystal to become Super Sailor Mercury, and blow away the lemures and Fish Eye with Her "Mercury Aqua Rhapsody" technique.
