The Makaiju, also called Doom Tree(or Tree of Life..you'll see) in the DiC version, has a sad story. Originally, it wasn't used for evil, just lonely. It lived on a large sea planet, surrounded by beautiful stars. But it was still very lonely. So the Makaiju decided to created beings from itself. (whereas Tree of Life). This life was fine at the beginning: the mutual love helped feed both the Tree and it's children. However, the children decided they wanted more, that they wouldn't share; a small war started. That war destroyed the planet and the weakening Tree was left wandering through space. not having enough love energy to feed the remaining children, the Makaiju weakened itself further, feeding them with it's own life energy. It became so weak it had to fall asleep. It couldn't even talk! Eventually, and children were dead except the two last: Eil and Ann. Then, they landed on Earth. The aliens collected the wrong kind of energy to feed themselves and the tree, so the Makaiju became ulgier (yet nonetheless impressive). But then Usagi entered the room were it was kept and, feeling her tremendous love energy, the Tree attacked her. On another visit, as the aliens (especialy Ann, who is also a bit jealous of her) suspected it preferred her energy, Ann pushed her into the room. The Makaiju grew very large and angered. It went berserk and even attacked the Cardian Yamaanka. It finally tryed to attack Eil, but Ann shielded him and died. At that point, the Makaiju awakened fully and told it's sad story. He finally asked Sailormoon to purge him of all the hate energy and to revive Ann. All the aliens then went back drifting through space, looking for happiness.

Seiyuu: Taeko Nakanishi

Eil or Alan, in the DiC dub, is the male alien. His "human name" is Seijuurou Ginga/Alan Granger. He is a talented flute player, which can be used for awakening Cardians or charming girls, and his other powers consist of shooting energy for his hands. He is much more calm and thinking than his sister/lover, Ann. The first time he set his eyes on Usagi, he fell in love with her, not knowing she'd cause so much trouble afterwards! he seems to always try to be hiding something, acting arrogant, using powers at school and whatnot. He is the first one to realize that power that is "love", although not understanding it at first, he catches on...at the end^^;;.
He's pretty jealous of Mamoru, sending Cardians after him not on just one occasion, he's quite a rival.
The Makaiju was attacking him, and Ann shielded him and died, so he was the one to listen to it's story with the senshi. He realized how much he loved Ann (now that he knew what love was^^;;)and went drifting back into space with his twin and the Tree.

Ann's "human name" is Natsumi Ginga/Ann Granger. She is the female alien and her attitude is much more angry and impulsive than that of her twin brother. She falls in love with Mamoru and start a small rivalry with Usagi...even pushes her in the Makaiju room! Tries to steel her energy in class... detention!!! lol, anyway, her powers consist of picking the right Cardian for a mission and shotting energy with her hands (which lead to superb images!) She doesn't quite understand love, she doesn't catch on as fast as her brother/lover about his feeling, but she's plenty smart...um, except when she says she can fluently speak English (French in DiC)...^^;; Even with that mistake, most of her schemes work (The Snow White part trick, the Pushing Usagi in the room...yeah, I know I'm a bit repetitive^^;;)
Even if she didn't understand love well, by sacrificed herself for Eil, she heard the Makaiju cry and finally understood. She was revived by Sailormoon's power and went back drifting away in space with Eil and the new born Tree.
