Kurei is the main bad guy in the anime and the first serie of the manga "Recca no honoo/Flame of Recca". He is presentable as a maniac, unemotionnal flame master. ( as for his appearance, you can check out our lovely pictures which we took from the Kurei fanclub!).Our villain of the week is the son of Ohka, the Hokage ninja leader and a woman named Reina. Kurei, since he had inherited his father's flame (which can be summoned by him around his left arm), was supposed to become the new leader. However, Ohka took another wife, Kagero, who gave him another son, Recca. The second son also inherited Ohka's flame, which meant Kurei was not meant to be the leader. At a meeting, Reina tries to kill Recca and is stopped. They should've been killed, but after an intervention from Kagero, they were "only" banned. Reina was very proud and pretentious when Kurei was to be the next leader, so she and Kurei lived miserabily and the son was often beaten by the other children. Reina became sick. One night, Kurei, who had decided to take revenge on Recca for what he had made his familly suffer (let me remind you that Kurei was 4), attacked Recca to kill him, scarring the one-year-old for life. He was put in prison.
At that time, a war with the Oni (a ferocious army) started. Kagero, wanting to save her son, used forbidden magic to open a portal to the future. Kurei, who had escaped from the burning prison, was still on his "murderous rampage" and jumped in the portal after his half-brother. That was about 400 years ago.
In the present, he is found by Mori Kouran, an evil millionaire who wants to live forever, and taken for a son. Well, somewhat of a son. Mr Mori put a bomb in his wife's body to make Kurei the perfect bodyguard. He forced him to be unemotionnal and cruel this way. Only once could our villain have been saved, by his love for a woman named Kurenai. Unfortaunately, the father saw the affection his son had for her and detonated the bomb he had had placed in her body. Kurei absorbed her body and turned it into his flame, a purple fire angel.
Finally, he crosses path with Recca once more, when his father orders him to kidnap his girlfriend, Yanagi, a healer, for his dream of eternal life. Telling you too much after that would be a true loss for all of you, so I shall stop my chatter now.
Just in case:
- You must've noticed that Kurei almost always wear a mask. Under it is a large burn scar.
-You can also see on the first picture that he is wearing many bracelets. Every flame master has to wear some object to prevent his true flame from "going berserk".
-Kurei is now 20 years-old. He is very powerful and smart/manipulative.
-Some of his henchmen/women are: Katashiro Reiran, Koganei Kaoru, Mokuren, Genjirou, Neon, Magensha, Raiha and Joker
