Noble and Politcal Titles

There a wide variety of titles in use in Oceana. This is organized in two ways. First is by culture with a list of titles from highest to lowest. Second, a table to show relative precedence.

 

Emperor - roman title, Imperator or roman for commander

King / Queeen

Prince - originially roman, latin form is Princeps or principal.

Count - originially a Roman civilian title for an imperial official who was a courtier or associated with the Imperial court. out ranked a Dux, or Duke. later became a companion to a king. .

Patrician

Senator

Duke / Duchess - originially a Roman military leader.

Marquis - a count in charge of the marches or border regions.

Earl - from the anglo-saxon. also known as Jarl

Autocrat - Greek

Strategos - Greek military governor

 

Baron
