Oceana Non-Player Races

These are races that are friendly or allied with humans, but are not suited as player races. These are broken down into two catagories, Normal Non-Player Races and Unusual Non-Player Races. It is likely that players will encounter these races as NPCs. They are not suited as player races since they are unsuitable for adventuring.

Normal Non-Player Races

Unusual Non-Player Races

There are also some unusual sentiant races compared to standard fantasy settings. Some come from non-fantasy sources, some are undead. All are noticable when they appear in civilized society, but are at least partially accepted parts of society. These are not available as player races since they are unsuitable for adventuring. They are mentioned as the players may encounter them and should not automatically attack them.

Mummy

Mummies are as per Terry Pratchett's Disc World series, in particular the book Pyramids. Mummies only come from Egypt. Mummies are created by a combination of magic, special preperation of the body at death and buriel in a pyramid and having sufficient Egyptian royal blood. Mummies must return to their pyramid for at least one night out of every 10. As such they are not a viable race for characters.

Troll

Trolls are as per Terry Pratchett's Discworld series. Trolls are large and made of stone. They become stone in the day light unless they use a special lotion to cover themselves. This lotion is normally only availiable in larger cities. Since they are a silicon based life form, their brain power is inversly related to temperature. Trolls are a natureal enemy of Dwarves. The inabillity to handle day light plus the temperature dependent intelligence makes them unsuitable as a player race.

Vampire

Vampires are as per Terry Pratchett's Disc World series. Vampires turn to dust in daylight or similar bright light, thus are not a viable player race. Vampires do not have to drink human blood, but most do. Combat stats are as per d20 standard rules. Vampires are a grudgingly accepted part of society.
