Well everyone, I'm here to write a little about the new love of my life: Techno.
My lil dabbling in it has been much expanded since going off to college. Once you get a high speed connection and you sit in front of your sexy computer trying to remember what song it was you heard on the radio (if you ever listen to it) and have a brain fart as to that song you wanted to download but forgot, techno is a safe and solid alternative. It's so easy just to pull it up and download a song or two. So much good stuff out there! Now there's more to techno than meets the eye, so watch out!
I've always enjoyed techno. What began my love of the genre was a little Bjork CD called "Post". I first listened to it at camp when I was in 7th or 8th grade. My love of Bjork introduced me to funky beats and odd rythums. Now skip ahead to my move to Oregon and me meeting my friend Josh. He's the one that always was listening to it and made everyone else in the church van listen to it too. This faithful playing only strengthened my love for it. That's what really got me started. So now fast forward to college and me going to my first true "techno only" dance party at the EMU and you've got instant total love...well that and Chuck (= Here I am now downloading songs rapidly. There are a few things I think all should be aware about techno--there are an infinite number of types of techno.
Happy Hardcore:
I'm a happy person and Happy Hardcore suits me perfectly. It's got a very rapid beat and there tends to be much singing involved, which I absolutely love. I recommend any of the Happy 2b Hardcore CD's.
Trance
Trance also comes in several variations. My favorite is Progressive trance, which allows you to chill and if you want dance at the same time. It's good stuff. Mars and Mystre and The Cynic Project are the groups that come to mind that I'd recommend for them.
Drum and Base
I think I would've been shot had ai not mentioned drum and base (; The title suggest what it is. Heavy beats with massive base. Dieselboy is the first name that comes to mind, and the only one for that matter. I have his autograph (= I'm very proud of that even if it's just a signature and stuff so =Þ
Jungle/Tribal
There is a difference between the two and I could be mistaken, but I think the difference is that Jungle isn't synthesized beats. They sound too similar to me. I'm not that into it so i don't have much to recommend for you )=
House
There are also many different styles of House. What makes house different is that it deals with the "local" flavor. French House is the style of house music played in France. It tends to be more of an ecelctic mix of everything and very danceable. So it's more regional and with not as strict musical guidelines in regards to style.
That's all I can think of for the moment )= Look for more in the future (=
