In gym class, Aino Minako is the first to jump onto the vertical bar, attempting to do 'Maneuver D': hold in her knees, somersault, and a half twist. However, on the ground before her, she sees a white cat (Artemis) with a crescent moon on its forehead. She lands on the cat with a cry. The teacher, apparently not seeing the cat, chastizes Mina for such a poor dismount.

During volleyball club, Mina meets up with Hikaru, a childhood friend who is in the same class. Mina admits that she is preoccupied: she is giving a love letter to her boyfriend Higashi. Higashi is in the basketball club, and quite popular. But since he always has a group of girls around him, it's impossible to get close to him.

When Mina finally tries, Artemis reappears, blocking her way. Higashi leaves.

Back in class, Mina is eating. Despite Hikaru's warning, the teacher catches her - again. He advises her to put in as much effort into Math as her eating habits: she got 27%.

Artemis watches this from outside. He notices that she has a lot of problems. A voice, coming from his communicator, reassures him she is the right one.

Higashi, to Mina's delight, comes into her class to help teach. He compliments her log hair, but suggests that she wear a red ribbon on the back. He then gets called away by Haneda. Mina thinks she is his girlfriend, but everyone says Higashi doesn't have one. She decides to try to make Higashi her first boyfriend, but a boy teases her, that she will only scare him away. After beating him up, she realizes Higashi has left. Artemis reappears, but it is starting to annoy Mina.

Mina takes a shortcut home by climbing over a wall. Her mom is not impressed to see her uniform all dirty. Preping for a bath, she wonders aloud if she is the type of girl that Higashi would like. Artemis hopes in the windows and tells her she could be, because she was born with the protection of the goddess of beauty. He then introduces himself. Minako screams and runs out of the bath, into her room, and slams the door shut.

Artemis persists, informing Mina that she has the potential to transform herself into a magnificent young woman. She has been chosen.

A crescent shaped object flies at her. She catches it, opens it, and sees her face reflected. A red mask covers her eyes, and a crescent moon is on her forehead. A light flashes, and she is in space, looking at Earth.

Artemis explains that it is her mission to protect earth. Her mother star is Venus - Earth's twin planet. He also explains about the Magellan Castle, that it floats over the land of Aphrodite. It's her castle.

Minako gets dizzy, and falls. When she awakes, she thinks it was all a dream, and hurries off to find Higashi to give him the love letter.

Higashi walks to school, surrounded by girls. He mumbles that the girls were made to be his slaves. He takes out his cell phone and calls Flourite. She addresses him as Narcissos, and orders him to get more brainwashed slaves, so they can rule the world.

Nearby, Artemis senses the evil presence. It's time.

Hikaru tells Mina that Higashi is alays alone when he eats lunch in the back garden. It's the perfect chance for Mina to give him her love letter.

Though Artemis tries to stop Mina, she still believes Artemis is just someone's idea of a joke and continues on. However, she sees Haneda and Higashi together. He tells Haneda she is very lady-like, especially with the red ribbon in her hair. That was the same thing Higashi has told Mina.

Angry, Mina storms off, not seeing Higashi transform into a youma and grab Haneda. Haneda screams, which causes Mina to come back. Higashi, now Narcissus, threatens to make Mina a slave too.

Artemis arrives and throws his communication pen to Mina. The voice tells her how to transform into Sailor V. And she does, but she is still reluctant to harm Narcissus. Artemis tells her to open her mirror and hold it out. It reflects the true nature of things. She sees the twisted face, and a cresent beam of light destroys him.

The voice tells Artemis that he is now her partner.

The next morning, Hikaru tells mina that there is a new idol, and Mina decides to go to his concert. Artemis sighs.
