Chapter 3......

Once Esmaraude was gone, Serena stepped away from all of them, nervous and apprehensive."I can't....I can't do this."she whispered, then turned on them."I can't do this! I don't belong here! I belong in my own world, my world where I live and I marry Darien. A world where Rene will exist!"she said desperately.
"We know that and we understand, but Serena, we need you so much. We need your hope, your love, your faith in the good of the world. After you died we-,"Trista pleaded with her, but Darien stepped forward, giving her a look that had her shutting her mouth immediately. Serena frowned at this, but he gave her no time to question it.
"I'd like to speak with Serena alone."he said quietly, all of them looking one last time at Serena, then turning and leaving the room. He moved toward her and she was again reminded that this was a much older Darien then the one from her world. So much stronger and emitting so much power from himself. His dark eyes held secrets she could see, but secrets he kept well hidden.
"Uh....what is it Darien?"her voice was a bit high pitched in her nervousness. That was odd. She hadn't acted that way around him since she was fourteen years old, a young giggling girl. She was older now, but she still couldn't seem to stop her hands from trembling.
"I was wondering."he moved close to her until she was backed up against a wall, her hands clutching it for support."Is it ok for me to ask you something?"he murmured huskily against her throat, his hands coming up to rest on her tiny waist, his thumbs moving back and forth in a gentle caress.
She closed her eyes, beginning to sigh, then snapped them open, pushing at him."What-what is it?"she stammered.
"Have we made love in your world?"he lips trailed hotly against hers, teasing her with there warmth, dragging a moan out of her. His hands gripped her hips and pressed them into his, against the bulge in his trousers he had attained because of her.
"Oh God....Darien....yes.....yes we have."that was all he needed. He covered her lips with his, kissing her passionately, his tongue delving between her teeth to taste her nectar, his hands tightening on her.
"Come with me."he pulled her alongside him down the halls of the palace, into a large bedroom that was surely his. Immediately he ripped her blouse off, his hands tearing her bra off and cupping her breasts, testing there soft weight, his thumbs flicking over the nipples.
Her head fell back, her eyes rolling into the back of her head as the pure pleasure of once again being in his arms came to her."Oh Darien.......I've missed you."her arms came up to wrap around him, crying out when he bent and kissed her breast gently, his hands squeezing, one hard caress.
He lay her back on the bed and quickly removed his trousers and shirt, tossing them to the floor. Next he tore off her skirt and climbed on top, lying his hard body on hers, his hands coming up to cup her breasts again, his lips trailing hotly down her throat, down to her chest. She arched her back and filled her hands with his hair, holding tightly and writhing beneathe him.
She felt him hard against her thigh, pressing there, teasing her with its warmth. His eyes came up to hers and there gazes locked, his eyes hungry and searching.
"Sweetheart, I can't wait any longer. I can't, I'm sorry. I always dreamed of this....of you."he bent and kissed her deeply, his hands going to her hips to lift them, where he began easing into her, groaning when her tight crevice began to engulf him."Oh God......I love you Serena. I love you."
Her legs came up to wrap around his hips, her mouth open in her mindless ecstasy, there bodies fusing and moving together smoothly, there kisses becoming desperate.
It was later, when she lay content against his hard chest, that he was moving her hair back from her face, his arms tighening around her."I meant what I said."
Drowsily, she lifted her hand and linked it with his, there fingers lacing together."What was that?"
"That I love you. I mean it, I do. Even after ten years without you....."his voice trailed off, then he moved on top of her, kissing her long and hard."But now your here with me. Your here and your going to stay. And now we can have that family together, our daughter Rene."
She opened her mouth to reply when he kissed her again, and soon they were rolling on the bed, her mind wiped clear of whatever she had been about to say.

The next morning she awoke very early, Darien still sleeping comfortable beside her. Moving carefully out of his arms, she got up and dressed quickly, determined to go see Trista and find out more about this strange world.
She left the palace and walked down the dark, empty streets. Odd, how few people were out and all of them seemed to be nervous, glancing about themselves with almost fear. She watched as someone jumped when they heard a small noise, nearly having a heart attack, there hand flying to there chest.
Pondering on this, she made her way to the Gate of Time, finding Trista emerging from the fogs as she approached.
She grinned."Did you know I would come?"she called out.
Trista ran to her and told her to be quiet, looking behind her to make sure no one had followed her. Quickly, she led her through the Gate, where they could speak without anyone coming upon them.
"What is it? Whats wrong?"Serena asked confused, frowning at how nervous she seemed.
"I shouldn't tell you.....but....oh God."she stopped to turn away, her hand covering her eyes.
Serena was really worried now."Whats wrong? Tell me Trista."
"This world is different but......its not what you think."she said softly, looking back at her again, her eyes full of anguish."Its not what it seems. Their not what they seem."
"What? I don't understand. I know this world isn't what I first thought it was, that much is obvious, but what do you mean by-"
Trista's eyes widened in horror and she put her hand over Serena's mouth, quieting her."We didn't speak of this. Don't tell anyone that we spoke of this."
Just as she removed her hand, the Inner and other Outer Senshi came, smiling at the two of them good naturedly."Hey, thought we'd find you here. Darien couldn't come, he was going to have a meeting with Dimando."
The name had her snapping out of her confusion with what Trista had said, looking at Amy."What did you say?"
"He was having a meeting with Dimando."Amy repeated, frowning at Serena's horrified look."What-"
"I have to go. I have to be there. I have to go."she ran out of the Gates and throught the city once again, up the palace steps and through the doors to the meeting room. She burst through the doors, panting and watching as both men turned toward her, rising to there feet.
     "Serena."Darien said in surprise.
"You....."she was looking at Dimando as she spoke, still struggling to catch her breath."You can't be here....your evil. Darien, can't you see through him?"
Darien looked from Dimando to Serena, and back again."No Serena, I think you have it all wrong. He's not-"
"So this is who your leaving Esmaraude for."Dimando cut in, walking over to Serena, his cold blue eyes looking her up and down, lighting up with admiration."I can see why."
"Dont' even think about it."she spat at him, earning a shocked look."I know all about you. I know what you really want. I know what your-"
Darien came and took her by the shoulders, stopping her advance on him."Ah, Serena, perhaps you should calm down. Dimando's not evil. He and I do business together. He's a friend of mine."
"Thats right. We do business together."Dimando frowned at Serena, wondering if she could possibly know that he.....no, impossible. Of course she couldn't.
"Business? Yea, for now, right before you stab him in the back!"
"Ok, lets go. Dimando, stay please, I'll be right back."Darien led her out of the room and back to his, where he closed the doors behind them.
She whirled on him."He's evil! In my world he's a backstabber! He's working for the Wiseman! There going to try and over throw-"
"No Serena, there's no Wiseman. I got rid of him years ago. Actually it was a couple of months after your death that he surfaced and I killed him. Dimando doesn't even know who the Wiseman is."he explained.
This bit of news had her stepping back."What? But....the Wiseman is so powerful....it was hard enough for me to kill him with the Crystal, and you-"she stared at him."Darien, its no wonder you built Crystal Tokyo on your own. You must be very, very powerful."
He smiled warmly at her."I had to be strong without you there to guide me. Now,"he put his arm around her shoulders, leading her to the doors."I want you to go with the Senshi and look over the city with them. Spend the day with them, they'd love that. I have to take care of things with Dimando, they'll bring you back as soon as I'm done."
She was still confused, but more by the simple statement he had made. 'I had to be strong without you there to guide me.' What could he have meant by that?
Quickly, she nodded and allowed him to kiss her, going down the halls to find the Senshi all waiting for her. She followed them out of the Palace, her eyes falling on Trista, but she refused to meet her eyes.
They walked through the city and Serena was reminded of how much fun she had with her own friends; soon she was laughing at them, happy once again.
It was when Serena saw her old friends, Molly and Melvin walking together up ahead, that she ran to them, hugging Molly tightly, then Melvin. Both of them stared at her in horror, but there horror grew more when they looked behind her and saw the Senshi, the two stepping back, bowing there heads to them. Serena frowned at this and asked them what was wrong, but they refused to speak, instead sneaking glances at the Senshi before turning and running away from them.
When she turned to the Senshi they were standing there, all of there faces hard, impassive. Only Trista seemed to have a sympathetic look on her face, but she quickly turned away when Serena looked at her. Quite suddenly, the hostility dropped from there faces and they were once again smiling.
Throughout the day, Serena watched everything closely, but most importantly, the people of the city, who all seemed to be frightened of the Senshi. Thoughts came to her, of how different this world was. So different from hers, so mysterious and dark. Why was everyone frightened of the Senshi? And why had they momentarily looked like complete strangers to her?
They returned to the palace, but Serena said she wished to walk Trista back to the Gates of Time. They left then, walking away, neither speaking until they were well out of sight of them.
"Whats going on here? Why is everyone afraid of all of you?"she asked sharply, refusing to believe what her heart saw.
Trista looked miserable."Its not there fault. Its not. After you died, they-"she stopped in mid sentence when they both heard someone approaching, then Dimando burst out of the shadows, several guards with him.
Serena was horrified."I knew it! I knew it! I told Darien and he didn't believe-"
Trista jumped Serena from behind and covered her mouth with her hand, muffling her protests."What are you doing here?"Trista hissed to Dimando."Were not supposed to be seen together! They'll suspect something!"
Serena couldn't believe what she was hearing. Her eyes were as wide as saucers, staring at both of them in shock.
"I came for her. Darien seems to care a great deal for her. Perhaps she's what we've been looking for, what we could use."Dimando snapped back, staring at Serena, his eyes darkening with unmistakeable passion.
She could feel Trista's hesitation, her doubt."But you don't understand. This is-"
"We've gotten this far Trista, are you going to ruin the plans now because of an emotional lapse?"he shook his head."Don't do this."
She held back a moment longer, then reluctantly released Serena, Dimando's men coming forward to take hold of her."Don't do this Trista! He's evil!"she said desperately."Oh God, how could you? They trust you!"
Trista's eyes came up at this, burning with anger."I have to do this. You'll understand soon enough."
Dimando stepped in front of her, his hand gently touching her cheek."I can see why Darien loves you. I can feel why too, in my own heart. And I'm sorry that I have to do this."
"You bastard! You-"she was cut off when a cloth was placed over her nose and mouth, and soon she felt the world falling away, everything turning black........
