Part 2.....
Serena put the painting down and sat stiffly next to Darien."Ugh, I guess I'm ready if I have to sit next to that."she sniffed, turning her face away from him, her chin in the air.
Darien looked at her, observing her closely. He had always looked on her as a clutz, a meatball head, a whiner, a crybaby, and the list could go on and on. But watching her sit there so serenly touched something in him, something deep he hadn't known existed.

She's so beautiful, he thought, so diffrent from Raye. No matter what I say to her she's always happy, always bright, always has a smile on her face.
"What?"she snapped, glaring at him from the side of her eye.
He grinned at her."Just waiting for you to have a clutz attack."
"Then your waiting for nothing."she watched him laugh at her, but no anger came to her. Only amazement at how gorgeous he looked when he was smiling or laughing. She didn't see him do either too often...but now she wished he would.
"So Darien,"Peggy said as she sketched,"tell me about this person you were supposed to meet."
That snapped Serena to attention, reminding her he belonged to Raye.
The smile disappeared from his face."Oh yea, Raye. She's a good kid."
"Thats all?"Peggy frowned at the detachment in his voice.
"Thats all."he looked back at Serena."Are you ever going to solve the mystery to me of why you fix your hair like that?"
"Oooohhh, I should have known modeling with you would be no fun!"Serena huffed.
Peggy watched them, noting the way Darien would gaze at Serena when she wasn't looking, or the way she would blush every time he spoke to her. The two hadn't stopped arguing for a moment since she'd met them earlier, but underneathe the bickering she saw two people who cared deeply for one another. She doubted they even knew how they felt.
An hour later she let them take a break so she could make a few adjustments to the sketch. Serena went out into the garden, Darien following her.
"See, I haven't tripped once today."she said smugly, then immediately tripped over some roses, Darien catching her by the arm.
"Yea, I can see that."he laughed, then stopped when something fell out of his pocket, clattering onto the ground.
Serena looked down, shocked when she saw a star locket. She bent and picked it up before he could.
"A star locket...."she whispered, then squinted up at him."Where did you get this?"
The locket opened, cutting off his answer, beginning to play a soft, sweet melody, a little crescent moon in the middle, turning in cirlces. They watched it, amazed, Peggy's story coming back full force.
     .....
Supposedly the locket will only play for them, no one else.....
Her eyes slowly rose to his, the two staring deeply into each others eyes.
"Hey guys, I made some lunch!"Peggy called from inside.
Her voice broke the spell, causing them to step away from one another.
"Oh.....coming!"Serena closed the locket, stopping the music, shoving it into his hands."There you go...its beautiful......"she didn't know what else to say so she ran back inside.
Darien watched her go, then looked down at the locket. Frowning, he slid it back into his pocket, going inside.
As they ate, Peggy told them that she was done, but she had thought of another idea while sketching what she had. She asked them if they would please return the next day so she could do that one.
When Darien made a face, Serena spoke up."No way, not him. He's too busy walking around all day and stalking young, gorgeous blondes."
"How do you know what I do all day?"he retorted, amused when she turned red."I'm not sure, you'll have to wait and see if I do come."he made a mental note to avoid Raye.
     "And you Serena?"Peggy asked hopefully.
     "Sure I guess."
Raye is going to kill me, she thought with a gulp.
They left her house in the late afternoon, walking back to the city.
"Well....I'll see you."Serena began to walk away, but his voice stopped her.
"Why don't we walk back together? You might get lost on your way home."he actually wanted to continue admiring how beautiful she looked with the sun setting around them.
"As if!! Walk back with you?!"she sneered.
     "Yea, with me."
"Well....hhhmmm.....ok. But don't call me meatball head!"
"Alright meatball brains."he grinned at her when she glared at him.
They walked in silence for some time, neither sure of what to say. Serena finally broke it.
"Darien, where did you get that locket?"she blurted out.
He took a while to answer."I'm not sure....I've had it my whole life."
     "Oh."
     "But I
do know that it belongs to me...somehow I know its mine...that it was meant to be mine."he said quietly.
"Hhhmmm."she grew nervous with the following silence, especially since she knew he was thinking about Peggy's story, like she was. She began rambling."That legend must not be true, just some story made up or something. I mean, it has to be impossible, since the locket played for us and that would just prove the whole stories fake cause you and I can't even stand each other, right?"he was silent."Right?"
When he still didn't answer she looked at him, becoming even more nervous at the intense, yet sad look he was giving her.
"Right."he whispered, but she could tell by his tone that he didn't agree.
"I....I have to go.....that way.....bye."she turned and ran.
     He continued on home alone.
Serena was running through the streets when she heard her name being called. She turned to see Raye coming toward her.
"Serena, have you see Darien?"she asked, coming to a stop in front of her.
"Um...n-no."she stammered, knowing Raye would tear her apart if she found out she had spent the whole afternoon with him.
"He was supposed to meet me after school, but he never showed."
"Oh......well, I told you not to waste your time on him."she began backing away."I have to go so I'll see ya later. Bye!"she ran.
Raye frowned, swearing she had smelled Darien's cologne on Serena.
