Author's Notes: here's the next chapter, beginning of the war and the change to many things. I hope your enjoying it so far, and send any comments to me! "The object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his." - General George Patton The Darkness In the Night Chapter 3: The Awakenings of War, Revelations of the Heart Blasts could be heard all over the Moon as Darien and his pilots raced some miles down the road, swerving through the small, winding roads in the hopes of not encountering any spacefighters. He shouted for the pilots to remain down, kept his eyes focused on the skies. Even as his thoughts went to Serena, he knew he had to get his men into the spacefighters in order to defend the palace, to defend her. He came to a screeching halt before the warehouse that was hidden well into the forest, jumped out and raced toward the doors that were already open, the warehouse manager coming out to shout orders to them. He went to his own spacefighter, climbed in and started up the engine while he put on his headset. Just as he would begin bringing it out of the warehouse one of his other men said they were encountering a problem with there own spacefighter. He jumped out of his and ordered the young pilot to take his instead, that he would fix what was wrong with it and join them in the skies as soon as he could. As he started looking through the engine, he prayed with all his heart Serena would make it through. She wasn't sure what horrified her more, the fact that her home planet was being attacked or that she had watched as her mother was taken hostage. The palace had been invaded almost immediately and her mother had had her hidden by her guard, where she had watched as her mother was taken away. Her guard, a large man by the name of Yaten, had dragged her through the hidden palace tunnels, kept going even as she had screamed for him to let her go so she could save her mother. They were now hiding outside the royal spaceport that only the royal family new of. Yaten was timing the attacks and casting a wary eye around, trying to see when they could make there escape onto a spacecraft. "I'm not leaving without my mother or Darien."she hissed at him. "I don't care what you say, its my duty to protect you. It was Serenity's last request of me."he was quiet a moment."If she doesn't make it, you HAVE too. Your important to the future. Especially now that everything's changing around us." "My mother is the Moon's future, not me." He turned and looked her in the eye."Your mother's time has ended. Now its your turn." She covered her mouth with her hand, horrified."No....you don't think....." "I'm almost positive they've killed her. Now they'll be looking for you, thats why I have to get you out of here and to Earth. You'll be safe there. Treize would give his own life before he allowed anything to happen to you." So much sorrow and grief filled her she wasn't sure she could breathe, but through it she knew she had to be strong. If her mother was gone then that meant it was now her responsibility to see to the Moon. It was what she would have wanted. "I can't leave Darien."she heard herself say, even though she felt more numb then anything else."I WON'T leave him!" "You have too!"Yaten snapped at her."I don't have time for you to flip out on me Serena. Keep your head and just focus on getting out of here safely." When she would have said something, he caught her hand, hauled her up suddenly."Nows our chance! Stay next to me and don't stop! Whatever you do, don't stop and don't look back!"he shouted at her over the blasts that seemed to be tearing the planet apart. Before she knew it they were racing through debris, jumping over fallen concrete and toward the royal carrier at the spaceport. When she stumbled, he kept right on going, never losing his tight grip on her hand. They boarded the carrier, Yaten running to the front and starting the engine."Sit down and strap yourself in!"he shouted back to her as he began taking it off the ground. She did as he bid, putting her seat belt on, then leaning back to look out the window of the shuttle, where she watched spacefighters blasting her home, taking it apart. She could see there own spacefighters, trying to ward them off and take down any enemy they could. She leaned closer to the window, peered through the maze of spacefighters, searching for Darien's among them. She knew his was different, a deep red instead of the dark blue the others were. She saw him then, fighting the enemy and dodging attacks at the same time. Filled with fear and awe, she watched him manuever, then suddenly take a hit to the back from another spacefighter that had been following him. "No...."she whispered, watching in horror as the spacefighter shot at him a few more times, then hit his target, causing Darien's fighter to catch on fire in the back. Wide eyed, she watched him swerve into the sky, with the enemy still right behind him. And in that moment watched him die, watched him try vainly to lose the enemy, only to be shot at and taken down, his fighter exploding before her eyes. "Oh, my God.....Darien....."they were the last words she uttered before she collapsed back against the seat in a dead faint. "She fainted on the way. I don't know what caused it." "Maybe it was the fact that her home planet was being completely demolished before her very eyes, or the fact that her mother was murdered." "Zechs, becoming angry won't help matters." At the sounds of Zechs' voice she drifted out of her dilerious state, opening her eyes to see Yaten, Treize, and Zechs all standing around the bed she lay on. Zechs looked angry, his eyes on fire with rage, but he held it in check barely. She could see him restraining himself from going at Yaten with his fists. "Zechs."she whispered, reaching out and gripping his hand in hers. He jerked, turned to her and leaned down, Treize and Yaten moving closer to the bed."Serena. How do you feel?" "I'm fine."but her heart was sick. Sick was grief and so much sorrow she wasn't sure if she would survive the ache."Zechs.....Darien......" "Were still waiting for word on him."he kept his voice calm, even when he saw her eyes fill with tears. "He's dead."she cried, the tears spilling over and her hand tightening on his."I saw it. They killed him." He sat on the edge of the bed, gathered her close and rocked her even as his own mind went into denial."No Serena, that can't be. Your confused, tired and confused. What you need is rest and-" "I saw it!"she shouted, gripping his shirt in her hands, nails digging in as she clung to him as if he was her lifeline."I saw his spacefighter taken down. I saw it....I saw him...." "Ssshh, stop that. There were probably dozens of spacefighters up there. Anyone of them could have been Darien."he was clinging to her just as tightly without realizing it."He's too good a pilot to let anyone take him down. You know that. He-" There was a knock at the door and Treize went to answer it, stepping outside and signaling for Yaten to follow him. They stood outside a moment, then only Treize came back into the room, his face grim. He walked to the bed, stared at the two people as they clung to one another. "The battle is over."Treize said. Serena struggled to hear him, to see him. She needed to know if there fighters had been able to keep them away, if there was any hope for her mother."My mother? Did she survive? Did our fighters push them away?" Treize sighed heavily, then looked her in the eye, his eyes the same color as Darien's and as intense as his had always been cocky."The moon has been taken over by the new leader of the Colonies, Dimando. We've had only a few survivors make it here. Casualties are high and the damage is extreme. Survivors have informed us that any remaining survivors left on the planet were taken hostage."he paused a moment, made sure his own grief didn't show."Your mother is dead Serena. As well as my brother." Her little cry was muffled by her hand coming up to cover her mouth as she stared at Treize in horror and grief. She turned to Zechs and found him staring into space, his eyes filled with horror, his mouth open. When she saw his eyes fill, she gathered him close this time."Zechs, I'm sorry. Oh God, I'm sorry." He broke and wrapped his arms around her, holding on this time because if he didn't, he felt he would collapse. There were several memorials held on earth for all of those who had been lost in the battle, but the largest of these were the one's held for the leader of the Moon and Darien, two casualties that hit into everyone's heart the most. It had been a month since the battle and from what Treize's spies had been able to find out, the Moon had been completely taken over by the Colonies. And from what else they reported on, they were aligning half of the galaxy's planets to them, readying for a full scale war against Earth and the planets aligned with them. Treize was busy planning tactics and war efforts, more busy then ever since his advisor had been taken hostage, Relena Valentine. He'd realized this just after the battle on the Moon, to his own shock and horror. Serena had been staying at the palace since the battle, mostly involved in her own grief over the loss of her mother and love of her life to give a care for anything else. She left the palace and walked up the cliffs near it, to the top where she remembered Darien had told her he enjoyed watching from. She sat there the entire afternoon, sat there and watched the sun begin to set finally, felt the breeze of the wind brush over her. That was how Zechs found her, sitting on the floor with her knees tucked up against her chest, her clear eyes watching the sun, her long, silvery hair blowing in the wind. The sight did something inside him, had him nearly sighing. But the thought of Darien straightened his back when he remembered his promise to him. He wasn't breaking it, he told himself for the thousandth time. He was going to do what Treize asked of him, even if it meant leaving her for months. Treize would watch over her and take care of her meanwhile. His mind firmly set, he walked forward."Serena." She jumped, turned to him wide eyed."Zechs....what are you doing here?"she stood and dusted her slacks off. "I needed to talk to you."he caught himself gazing into her eyes, eyes he could still see pain and heartache in. It was wrong for him to be feeling this way. She had been the love of Darien's life. She had been his heart. And yet he had felt this way about her since the moment he had first seen her. "About what?"she crossed her arms against the breeze that seemed to have turned cold suddenly. "I'm leaving Earth for a bit. Treize needs my help in speaking with our allies. I'll be heading out to Mars, Venus, Jupiter, Mercury, and a few other planets. There's no telling how long I'll be gone."he shuffled his feet and didn't meet her eyes. "I'm surprised your telling me this. This is the first time I've seen you since Darien's memorial."feeling bitter because he had abandoned her when she most needed him, she retorted in an angry tone. He looked up, surprise evident in his blue eyes."I never meant-" "Its all right Zechs. I understand. I shouldn't have snapped at you like that."tired now, she studied him, noting he was the same build as Darien had been, and as handsome, except that his looks were light, whereas Darien's had been dark."Just come back."she whispered to him. He nodded, went to her and took her hands in his, held them tightly."I will. I promise you I will. I'll take care of you Serena. When I get back, I'll never abandon you again." The intimacy in the words made her uneasy, but when she looked up into his eyes, her nerves seemed to smooth away. There was understanding there and a calmness in his eyes Darien had never had in him. She needed the calm now. She needed calm in her life instead of the wildness and adventure Darien had seemed to have drawn to him like a magnet. So all she managed was a small nod."I'll be waiting." He studied her, measuring what he saw in her eyes. Acting on impulse, he bent and kissed her cheek tenderly, lingering over it long enough to have him closing his eyes and letting his mind wander with what if's, if things had been just a bit different. He pulled back sharply, let go of her hands and backed away."I'll be back Serena. I'll be back."staring at her another moment, he turned and left her there on the steep cliffs, just as the sun dipped back into the land and earth remained pitched in darkness. The Moon Dimando couldn't feel more on top of the world. His raid on the moon had been a complete success. Not only had they managed to capture and kill the Moon's leader, but also Treize's idiot little brother, Darien Templeton. Casualties on there side had been numerous, but it had all come out in the end when they'd been able to take over and still have several hostages. Soon the galaxy would be under the rule of the Colonies. He was in the palace, eating dinner at the long table where he was sure the leader, Serenity and her daughter had had many suppers before in the past. He glanced up when Seiya walked in, grinned around the food in his mouth. "And how are things going with the rest of the planets in Nemesis then? Have they agreed?"he picked up his wine glass, motioned for a maid to refill it. "You know they would. They've been waiting for someone like you for years. They wouldn't pass up this oppurtunity."Seiya sat with him, rolled his shoulders. "Good. Glad to hear that. So where's Heero?" Seiya rolled his eyes, laughed."With that Embassador, Relena. He says he's watching over her, but I think our buddy Heero's got a thing going for her." "Wouldn't blame him. She's a real looker."he reached over and picked up a frame that sat next to him, studied it and felt something move inside him."But not as beautiful as Serenity's daughter." "My reports are that she's alive. She escaped, just barely. They say she's being hidden on Earth, protected by Treize and Zechs."Seiya shook his head."If we even want to get near her, its going to be a bitch. Treize is known for his combat and piloting skills, as well as Zechs." "We'll get her."Dimando spoke with absolute confidence."By the end of this war, she'll be mine." Relena paced back and forth in the palace gardens, frustrated and angry as she had been for the past few weeks, since her capture. Seeing that pilot shot had horrified her, but also opened her mind to the fact that the universe was now at war. "Stop that."Heero murmured quietly from where he sat on a stone bench, leaning back against a wall with his eyes closed. She stopped only long enough to hiss at him."Don't tell me what to do. I have little freedom as it is and the few things I can do you try and tell me not to do."she continued pacing. He opened his eyes to watch her."Are you going to make me get up and stop you?" "Go ahead and try."she shot back. Biting back a sigh, he was up before she could even blink, wrapping his strong arms about her and holding her tight against him."You feel just as nice as you did last night."he whispered into her hair. She struggled against him."Let me go Heero. You bastard!" To stop what he knew would be a rain of curses, he turned her in his arms and kissed her, kissed her hard enough and long enough to have her melting against him, sighing out his name. When he pulled back and looked at her, she was the most beautiful creature he had ever seen. "Will you let me come to you again tonight?"he nuzzled her hair, bending down to lift her leg and wrap it around his waist, his strong hands cupping her bottom and lifting her to straddle him. Here was the only softness he had ever felt in his life, or had ever wanted to feel. She tried seeing past the fog clouding her brain, but failed miserably when he took her to a secluded corner of the maze, where he began fumbling with his trousers, then pulled and ripped her panties off from beneathe the skirt she wore. "Why do you want to come tonight when you can just have me right now?"she almost cried out when he plunged inside her, bent down and bit into his shoulder instead, her eyes rolling into the back of her head as he plunged tirelessly against her. "Because now isn't enough."he rasped out against her ear, kneading her soft buttocks as he rode her, holding her tighter, needing her closer."Its never enough." "Heero.....I can't....I can't....." "Yes, you can."he covered her lips with his, swallowed up her cries and forced himself into her harder."Damnit, yes you can." When she closed around him like a hot fist, he swore under his breath, heard her sobbing out his name and fisting her hands in his hair. When his own world exploded around him, he could only sag against her slight frame, could only kiss her and soothe them both with that simple touch. "So I'll come to you again tonight."he whispered, resting his head against her. She nodded."Ok." He pulled back and brushed the hair from her face, fingered the golden strands of it."I never saw hair this color before I met you." "You think my hair's something, wait until you see Serena's."realizing what she'd said, she closed her mouth. His eyes studied her, mildly amused." Your loyalty is misled, but soon enough you'll come to the right side."he set her down, adjusted first her clothes, then his own. That statement alone made her sizzle."Right side? And which one is that? Your side, who only seems capable of murdering innocent people and taking over? Or my side, the side who tries fighting off evil like you, who tries upholding some sort of justice in this world?"when he turned away from her, she pressed on."If Treize were here, he'd-" He turned on her and had her pinned to the wall in one swift movement, his usually calm eyes swirling with rage."Don't speak his name to me. Don't." The calmness of his tone frightened her, but she wouldn't back down."Or what? You'll kill me? Your only means of sex? Oh, thats right. If I'm gone you could just as easily replace me." He stared into her eyes for sometime, for so long she grew uneasy."I could never replace you."he said softly, then let go of her. She remained silent a moment, almost reached for him, but instead, didn't."Why do you hate Treize so much?" Because you love him and not me, he almost said. From the first day they had captured her, she'd spoken volumes on Earth's leader, Treize. Every word, every sentence, carried some sort of praise to him. He had watched her eyes glaze over, noted how her voice had always changed, softened when she spoke of him. Always Treize. It would always be Treize. And just for that he'd kill the bastard one day. She wasn't too surprised when he didn't answer. She had become used to the fact that Heero was an extremely quiet person, a person who kept mostly to himself. And even though she herself was someone who needed answers, who needed fact there and now, she had gradually gotten used to his routine. When the maids who took care of her came to get her to escort her back to her rooms, Heero placed his large hand on her arm before she could leave with them."I'll join you tonight, Relena." She stared at the hand on her arm, then back at him."All right."she kept her eyes opened when he bent and kissed her softly, then walked away with the maids. He watched her a moment, then turned and headed to the dining room, where he found Dimando and Seiya laughing together."And whats so funny?" Dimando glanced up."Seiya was just telling me this story about this little moon slut he met. If I wasn't holding out for Serena, I'd go hunting for one myself." "And why don't you? Its not like she's here right now."Seiya pointed out as Heero settled into a chair next to him. "Your right, but I'd rather hold out for the best." Seiya shrugged and glanced at Heero."How about you then? You wanna come with me to the bar tonight? Nice place to meet women." Heero shook his head."No. I'm busy." Leaning in to sniff at him, Seiya nodded."And I'm pretty sure I know who your busy with. I can smell Relena on you. Not that I blame you, the woman's beautiful, and probably as passionate in bed as she it about her politics." "Watch what you say Seiya."Heero countered quietly. Dimando tapped his fingers on the table, considering him."You've grown really attached to Relena. I hope you know when this war is over she'll be returning to where she belongs, most likely with Treize. That is, if Treize is alive. I haven't decided whether we should kill him or not. He might be useful." "I'll kill him."Heero said it rapidly, and with such a fiercesness both men turned to look at him with raised brows."He's mine." Dimando studied him, then nodded."I'll leave him to you then. Do what you want with him, when the time comes." "I will."Heero thought of Relena, felt his insides curl with possessive rage."I will." Six Months Later The Planet Venus "I can't believe Darien's dead."Mina, the present leader of Venus spoke from where she sat at the long table, where she and her close friends from the nearby planets all sat together."I just can't believe it." "Its almost unbelieveable."Raye shook her head, ran her hand through her dark hair. "Are you sure? Your sure it was him?"Amy, always needing fact, asked yet again. Zechs stood at the head of the table, nodded shortly."Were sure it was him."and it still broke something inside him each time he thought of it. "We'll kill those bastards!"Lita shouted, standing and ramming her fist into the table, creating a large dent."Jupiter won't let Darien or even Serenity's death to have been in vain! We'll gather all the troops we can, get them ready for battle." "Same here. If its a fight they want, then they've got one coming."Raye agreed."Mars won't let you down." "Venus is in."Mina said. "Mercury as well."Amy rubbed her temple."I just can't understand how he could die in battle. He was one of the best pilots in the galaxy, if not THE best." "Amy, let it go."Mina whispered to her, motioning to Zechs, who had turned his back and stood stiffly. "Zechs, I'm sorry. I never meant-" "Its all right. Its done, its over. He's gone and he's not coming back."he took a deep breath and turned back to them."And now we need to focus on whats going on around us. These times are dangerous one's and we need to make them safe once again." "Your right." "I need all of you to go back to your homes and recruit as many men and even women as you can. Train them in both combat and piloting. We'll need our pilots to protect the skies, and our troops to invade from within."he was quiet a moment."I'm glad all of you agreed. Now that were done here, I need to return to Earth. I've been gone for almost six months and they need me."but he could only think of her when he said this. "Are the attacks to Neptune still going?"Lita asked. "Yes, they are. Uranus managed to hold them off by coming to there aid. But civilian casualties were high, as was the damage."he felt his shoulders droop."I have to go. I'll be in contact with all of you."nodding to each of them, he turned and left the room, Yaten rising from where he sat to follow him. They were boarding the shuttle when Mina came running out of the palace and called out to him. He stopped and waited for her, Yaten going inside and boarding the shuttle. "What is it Mina?"he asked, impatient. "How is she? Serena, I mean." He sighed."The last time I saw her was six months ago and even then it had only been one month since the attack to her home. She was....healing, but still sick with her grief." Mina could feel her own pity stirred."They must have really loved each other. I heard about them from travelers carrying news with them. Everyone always spoke of how happy, how in love they were." He himself remembered how they'd been together, and in remembering felt guilt again for his own feelings toward Serena."She'll be all right." "Your right. She's strong. Even though I've never met her, I've heard of her strength."she saw something pass through his eyes, an emotion she was sure she recognized, but he had turned away from her before she could really see. "Do as I told you Mina, and she won't have to hide on Earth much longer."he boarded the shuttle and left her standing there alone. "Treize, I want to talk to you."Serena spoke from the doorway of his office. He sat at his desk with his head in his hands, a rare thing for her to see. The Treize she knew was always strong, always so sure of himself and never seemed to stress out or lose his head. Even when the world seemed to be falling apart around him, he kept his cool. He jerked and she could immediately see him closing up, closing her and the worlds problems out."Serena. What is it?" He looked so much like Darien sometimes it made her heart ache."I wanted to speak with you about Relena."she waited, watched the controlled expression on his face seemed to waver, seemed to want to crumble."You miss her, don't you?" He stood and turned to look out his window."She's my personal advisor, she's my embassador. I need her most right now and she's not here." She studied him."I think its more then that." It had never been more then that to him, but since her disappearance he had realized it always had been. He'd never looked at her that way, and yet he always had."I need her back."he whispered, more to himself then her. "Thats why I came here. I don't like the idea that she's out there with them, being held or maybe even dead for all we know. I want to go get her."she wasn't surprised when he whirled on her. "What?! Are you insane?! There's no way, no way in hell I'll ever allow that!" "I can do it. I have piloting and combat skills! I know how to fight, I was taught by the best all my life."she pleaded. "Oh? And who might that have been?"distracted, he didn't notice how her features hardened. "My mother."when he looked at her, she nodded."You know she was one of the best and strongest fighters in this galaxy." "I know. But still, I don't want-"he was cut off when the line for his phone buzzed, snatching it up and asking what was wrong. He listened for a moment, then smiled slowly, the first real smile she had seen in weeks."All right, thanks a lot. We'll be right there." When he hung up and walked around the desk, she asked,"What is it?" "You might want to come with me right now." He led her outside and to the spaceport right next to the palace. There was a shuttle there, with the pilots standing around talking and Yaten seeing to the lugagge being unloaded from the back. She glanced around for Zechs, but found no sign of him. "And how did things go?"Treize asked Yaten when they were standing with him. "Pretty good. All in all, it was an interesting six months."Yaten looked at Serena, noted the pain and sorrow that had clearly eatched her face some months ago was now gone."And how are you Serena?" "I'm better now that you guys are back. But where's Zechs?"she was still glancing around for him. "He left. Seemed in a hurry."Yaten turned back to the unloading."And how are things going around here Treize?" "Hectic, how do you think? I've been going over plans and more plans, and seeing if we have enough troops to defend against an attack. I....."he trailed off when Serena quickly walked away, heading for the cliffs Zechs and Darien had haunted when they were younger. He squinted against the sun and wondered if perhaps something was happening there. She didn't know why she wanted to see him so badly. She didn't know why she felt such joy at the news that he had returned. She hadn't realized until that moment how much she had missed him, how much she had wanted to see him. She climbed the cliffs and found him there, much as he had found her once, months before when he came to say goodbye. Moving forward quietly, she watched him watch the sun and the sky."Zechs." He turned and looked at her. He had changed in the past months. There was still a calmness about his eyes, still a peacefulness, but also a hardness that hadn't been there before. She understood that. It was something she had developed in the past few months as well. "Your back."she managed when all he continued to do was stare at her with those eyes, intently and unblinking."You came back." "I told you I would."his voice was rougher now, seemed to growl a bit. He walked to her, looked down at her, watched the shadows the sun created play across her face."I promised you I would." "I didn't....I wasn't sure....."she choked up, covered her mouth with her hand."Its good to see you." When he saw her eyes glistening with tears, he reached for her, took her hands in his."Don't do that Serena. Please."his voice had softened considerably, something he was sure he would only ever be able to do for her. "I can't help it. I'm sorry."when his hand curved around her cheek and tipped her face up, she smiled at him through the tears."I really am glad to see you." "Same goes."unable to stop himself, he bent and brushed his lips, light as a whisper, across hers for the first time."Serena...."he sighed her name. Her hand came up and gripped his shoulder, where she felt his muscles tighten."Zechs....I'm not sure...."letting her emotions guide her, she wrapped her arms around his neck, dug her fingers into his shoulders and kissed him, closing her eyes and losing herself in it. His hands came up and gripped her, vised around her and his lips became hard, became almost desperate. She opened to him, held on when he lifted her into his arms, when he wrapped her legs about his waist. "Zechs....oh God, Zechs...."she was nearly crying as his lips trailed hotly down her neck, buried there and just held her."Don't leave me again." "I won't. I couldn't."he couldn't believe he was holding her, couldn't believe she had reached for him."Serena, you mean so much to me." She tightened her grip on him."I'm afraid-" He cut her off with another long, soft kiss."Don't be. I'm here and I'll take care of you."like I promised Darien, he almost added, but bit it back. She was his now. Darien would understand how things had turned out, what had led them to each other. He was sure Darien would have understood. She framed his face between her hands, gazed into his eyes."Don't leave me alone tonight." He rested his forehead against hers."I won't."he kissed her again."Mine. Your mine now Serena." Back in her rooms in the palace, he held her and rocked them both, simply held on. He needed to feel her against him, needed to hold her for just a moment and forget everything that had happened in the past few months. But when she pulled back and kissed him, when her hands dipped inside his shirt and ran over his chest, he couldn't think of being slow and calm, couldn't think of anthing. She unbuttoned his shirt, tossed it over her shoulder and gazed hungrily at his chest, touched the muscles straining there with soft hands. When he could only stare, she reached down and removed her own shirt, threw it, then removed her bra as well. When his eyes bugged, she couldn't help the laugh that escaped."Aren't you going to touch me?" "I'm afraid too."but he did, cupping her breasts and kneading them, watching her eyes sharpen and lose focus. When he bent and took a hard, little nipple into his mouth she cried out, nearly fell, but one of his strong arms wrapped around her, held her up as he sucked hungrily. She was writhing against him now as he held on and drew from her, licked and bit gently, then suckled her as if his life depended on it. His other hand traveled down her smooth stomache, slipped into the skirt she wore and between her thighs, where she was damp, wet and hot. When his fingers slipped inside, she bucked against him, her nails digging into his back and urging him on. He laid her back on the bed, continued plunging his hand inside and watching her face change with her emotions, watched her cry out his name and cling to him as she came, fast and hot. When she lay sprawled, limp and drained, he bent and feasted on her, kissing her breasts, going lower to sample from the heat she had just released from. When she arched her back and attempted to close her legs, he brought his hands up and held them apart, ran his tongue inside her, used his teeth to drive her mad. And when he finally thrust inside, when they moved together as waves crash over the sea, there moans mingling, there breaths coming faster, his thrusts coming harder, they held on to one another as they went over the edge. Treize was standing in Darien's rooms the next day, the rooms that had been his there in the palace. He had only come in here once since his brothers death, and that was to stare at everything blankly, especially since his brothers death hadn't exactly hit him yet at the time. He could still smell him in the room, could still see how it had once been his. He didn't know what it was that had brought him here, had drawn him and had him stand there, just stand and study everything. "Its cleaner now then it ever was when he was here."Zechs commented from behind him. Treize didn't jump, didn't even blink. Nothing seemed to surprised him these days."He liked tossing everything when he was done with it. He treated women the same way he did his clothes."he turned back to Zechs, stood calmly watching him as the other man surveyed the room. "Yea, your right about that. Except Serena."the thought of her had a lop sided smile coming to his face, his eyes turning dreamy. It was exactly the opening Treize had been looking for."Except Serena."he agreed, quiet a moment. "It makes me wonder if he would have been happy with the thought that you think he tossed her your way." Zechs' eyes flashed, turned hard as his entire body stiffened."What the hell is that supposed to mean?" "Just that since the moment my brother died, you seemed to move in on the woman he loved rather quickly." "Watch it Treize. Watch what you say. I made Darien a promise the last time I saw him. I promised I would look after her if anything happened." "Makes it convenient, doesn't it?" Zechs moved fast, threw his fist toward Treize, connecting it with his jaw. It knocked Treize back, but to his own credit, he didn't stumble and fall on his ass. Instead he touched his hand to the blood on his lip, looked up at Zechs with calm eyes. "So your in love with her then." That confused Zechs enough to have him lower his fists."Not that its any of your business, but yea. I am." "I wanted to see if that was the case."Treize sighed, shook his head."It does bother me some to know your with her, but your like another brother to me. I couldn't possibly hold it against you." "I understand where your coming from then. Treize, don't worry over it. I'll make her happy. I swear that I will." He nodded."Do that."he turned and left the room. He ran into Serena outside the palace, where she sat in the gardens, seeming to be deep in thought. Hesitating a moment, he walked over to her. She looked up, gave him a faint smile."Treize. How are you doing today?" "Fine, as always. And you? Are you happy now that Zechs is back?" Her smile softened."Yes, I am."being with him the night before had calmed her as nothing had been able to since Darien's death. "Then I'm glad. I only want your happiness Serena."he stopped when Zechs came out, watched the way her eyes changed to joy, the way Zechs seemed only to be able to stare at her. And wished with all his heart he had realized his feelings for Relena before they had taken her."I have a meeting now. I'll be seeing you both later." Zechs kissed her the moment Treize was gone, ran his hands down her back and buried his face in her hair."Hhhmm, last night was the best night of my life." She smiled, stroked his back."Oh? Is that right?"she teased him. "Yea. Did you want to spend the day with me?" "I thought Treize said you had some pilot training to do." "It can wait. How about it?" "Sure. Sounds good to me." They walked out of the gardens holding hands, neither aware there happiness was limited and would soon be put to the test. Stay tuned for Chapter 4!!~sailorperfect@yahoo.com |
