Author's Note:Alright, this fanfic is pretty short cause I didn't want to write another novel. Nothing outrageous, no alternate reality thing going on. Just ordinary Serena and Darien and there friends. Hope you like it!

Part 1....
Wednsday.....
Andrew was cleaning the counter in the arcade when the front doors slid open and a certain happy blonde with two long tales skipped in, a smile on her beautiful face. She was wearing a tang top and small shorts, allowing him to admire her young, slim body.
"Hey Serena."he greeted with a kind smile."How's your summer going so far?"
"Great! Today I'm going to the mall with my friends."she sat at the counter, her chin in her hand."How's your summer?"
"Well, I'm working most of the time, but so far its ok. Hey Serena,"he said,"since its the fourth of July this weekend, I decided to throw a pool party at my house, along with a barbeque. Would you want to come?"
She squeeled in delight."Oh yes! That sounds like so much fun!"
     "Bring your friends too."
"Ok."at that moment the front doors opened and in walked four noisy females.
"Am I seeing things? Did Serena actually get here
before us?"Mina laughed and ran to her friend, hugging her."This is so great! I'm proud of you!"
Serena couldn't help smiling."Don't get used to it."
"Andrew, have you seen Darien?"Raye asked.
"No, he hasn't been in today."
"Oh."her whole face dropped in disappointment."Well, come one meatball head! Lets go!"
"Ok, lets go."she stopped and turned to wave at Andrew, her face bright."Bye Andrew!"
He shook his head after they'd left, then quickly looked up when the doors opened again, this time his best friend, Darien walking in.
     "Hey Darien."
Darien, as always, had a serious expression on his face."Hi Andrew."
"You up for some fun?"he asked with a grin, then immediately rolled his eyes."Who am I kidding? You never want to have any fun."
"Have you seen Serena today?"he asked, ignoring him.
"Yea, her and her nutty friends just left."he laughed when Darien's eyes dropped."I just saw that look on Raye's face when she asked if I had see you."
     "Oh yea.....Raye."he dismissed her.
"You know, if you want Serena so much, maybe you should try being nice to her once in a while. I'm sure then she might look at you as anyhting but a jerk."
     "No...she's like the moon....impossible to reach."he mumbled.
"Um....Darien..."Andrew tapped his friend on the head."We've been reaching the moon for years now."
"I'm going home."Darien got up to leave.
"Wait! Listen, I'm throwing a party at my house this weekend. Its the fourht of July, you know, but you probably forgot. You should come. It'll do you good to get out and have some fun."Andrew began cleaning the counter again, speaking as if it didn't matter."And Serena's going too."
"WHAT?!"Darien placed his hands on the counter, leaning across it at a surprised Andrew."She is?!"
"Yea, I just invited her. Hey,"he elbowed him,"she'll probably wear a bikini. Have you seen the body on that girl?"
     "What day and what time?"
"Saturday, noon. I'll see you there!"he called after him as he left.
Darien walked down the street, his hands in his pockets, deep in thought. His entire life he had spent alone; growing up in an orphanage with no friends, moving into a cold apartment by himself. He had resigned himself to his solitary life, living each day without a care for anyhting or anyone, growing more cold and bitter as time passed.
Until one day he had been walking down the street and a crumbled paper had fallen on his head, a bright little blonde screeching when she realized he had seen her test score. He had lowered the paper to insult her as he did to anyone that bothered him, but instead was amazed to find a beautiful young girl standing in front of him, red from embaressment. But in his usual style he had put her down, sneering over her 30%, laughing out loud at her funny hair do.
From that day forth he had proceeded to insult her every chance he got, loving the way her little face contorted with with anger, the way she would scream at him. These little exchanges were what he looked forward to everyday. Until he had walked into the arcade one day to find her laughing at something Andrew had said, looking so pure and beautiful he could only stand dumbly and stare at her.
From that day on he had
wanted to see her smile at him, to squeel when she saw him, to laugh at something he said. He'd wanted to have her be concerned over him, the way she worried over all her friends.
But everytime he saw her the only words that came out of his mouth were insults, put downs. He could never seem to say anything else around her.
He decided then and there that he was going to tell her how he felt. He had to risk it, he
had to know. Just the thought of her smiling and teasing him took some of the anger and bitterness he had at life away.
This fourth of July party was the perfect time to tell her.

Alright, so we've seen the relationship these two have, but underneathe it all Darien actually loves her. So how does Serena feel about him? Stay tuned for part 2 and you'll find out! E-Mail me your opinions or whatever! Later!
