I look up at the stars
Theyre such bright and shining things
     Subtle light on moonless nights
     And guidance they do bring

The crickets hum their merry tune
But all else is silent here
As I sit upon the dew-soaked ground
I try to feel of good cheer

I look above at these stars
     Those things so far away
What we see may not be there
But their light they still display

     The stars form constellations
     Figures and different forms
And they were there for sailors
Who must have braved the storms

     Those stars seem so ageless
As they twinkle back at me
     So bright and shining, glowing
     Sparkles for all to see

And upon those bright, twinkling stars
     I make a single wish
That I may find the right person
To share the rest of my life with

The stars care nothing of my plea
     And continue to shimmer on
For they will go on shinning
     Until the time is dawn

I sit there a little longer
     Underneath those stars
Their blessed light falling on me
     For I must travel far

I rise up very slowly then
     Gazing up at the sky
Those specks of small twinkling lights
Bring forth from me a sigh

I enter now, my own household
And the stars do laugh and play
And they will be there every night
For me to gaze and pray
