Here I take my solo walk
Down the path I do stalk
The snowy path before me now
And to this I raise my brow
I look around and then I see
Passing clouds far above me
A rainbow hovers high, a treat
Out here with no one else to meet
I hear nothing, all is still
No birds, no beasts, nary a trill
Just my boots and crunching snow
With bits of light, the path aglow
A rushing sound, a river there
Pausing to just stop and stare
Beyond the trees, out there I know
Peace and quiet, all is so
Around the bend, I find trees
But nothing to compare to these
Guardian sequoias, tall and grand
Towering above, how high they stand
Side by side, they make a gate
Looking down on my sorry state
Many students passed through here
Down on me they do peer
They have lasted a long, long time
Yet my actions they do mime
And I salute as I walk on by
The sight enough to make me sigh
I smile now at the sight
Of the birds that do take flight
And the now peaceful calm
I leave my print with my palm
I rest now here, silence gold
Yet so much yet left untold
Overall, a place to love
Winsome and free, just like a dove Text file Source (historic): geocities.com/sailorstel/poems
