Say "Cheese"!

This was a fairly simple construction. I found an old Ral Partha demon figure going cheap in my local hobby shop. I looked at it and thought 'mmmh!, that'll come in handy'. Well, it did as you can see. The plinth it's stood on is an upturned cottage cheese box. I used the lid of the cheese box too. By turning it upside down and glueing it to the top of the cheesebox it not only added stability but it also formed the decorative border at the base of the plinth.

I painted the 'Statue' with a base coat of bronze first, then aged it with a dirty green ink. I watered the ink down and let it run down the statue to form the type of streaks you get from rain weathering. To get this effect you need 5 or 6 applications giving the ink plenty of time (12 hours) to dry out first before applying the next coat. The plinth is painted scab red and I added some bits and pieces from a warhammer undead regiments box. Still not quite happy, I added the skeleton for more character.

As a base I used ordinary cardboard. Before sticking the plinth to it, I took a piece of static grass matting big enough to cover the base with an overlap of about 2 inches all round. Using the plinth itself to line the cut, I cut a hole in the matting to the shape of the base of the plinth. When the plinth was stuck to the carboard base, the matting was simply pulled on over the top of the monument and stuck to the cardboard base.

Add foliage using iceland moss or flock and stones to your taste.
