Bhagawans' Divine Discourse on 29/04/1999 in Sai Sruthi, Kodaikanal

ATOM IS ATMIC

Smaller than the smallest and bigger than the biggest is Brahma which is present in everything and everywhere.  Atom and Brahmam are one and the same. (Telugu poem)

Embodiments of Love!

The vedantha of Bharat has proclaimed that world is very form of atom. However, in many ways, the scholars have conducted enquiry or the scientists conducted experiments and research.  Ultimately they end up with atom.  There is no universe without atom.  Atom is God.  God is atom.  The water you drink, the food you eat, the sound you hear are all forms of atom.  There is no matter which is not form of atom.

The scientists say atom has no form.  Bhagavad Gita proclaims that the formless aspect is Divine.  Divinity is full of awareness beyond the attributes.  They have decided that everything is atom.  Scientists have taken 1000 years to discover the truth that everything is atom.  But, thousands of years ago the boy Prahladha said "Never doubt whether God is here or there.  He is everywhere.  You find Him wherever you search for Him"

The human life is combination of atomic divinity and mighty macrocosm. There is no matter without form. Divine principle is visualised as form of atom.  Fragrance though it has no form, the flower from which it emanates has a form.  Likewise, though love has no form the loving matter has form.  Mother is the vesture through which love shines. Without vesture man cannot function.  The human life is combination of atomic principle and inert matter.  People take many years to know this.  They follow different paths to reach God.

Prof.  Bagya said that he did sadhana.  Do you do sadhana for God?  No. You do it only for your peace.  What is the use? What is the goal? What is the significance of sadhana? These are all practice for sanctifying time.  That is all.  No sadhana is needed for realising your reality (Atma Sakshathkara).  What is needed is to give up those that contribute Anatma.  Until we differejtiate Atma from Anathma, there will be no progress.  All that is in 'I', is described in Ramayana, Bhagavatha, Mahabharatha and Upanishads.  What is the inner significance? You must understand that there is nothing in this world which is not atom.  You must understand that there is nothing in this world which is not atom.

The gopikas intheir description of Krishna, sang, "Is it possible to recognise and worship you in a particular form as you are smaller than te smallest atom, mightier that the mightiest; You are in all the 84 lakhs of species.  You are all pervading"

Atom has also form.  The atomic form assumes the mighty form of cosmos too.  Rama, Krishna, Yesu, Buda, Zaroshtra are also the forms emanating from Atom.  What form has water? It takes the form of the vessel in
which it is kept.  Similarly air which has no form assumes the form of the balloon blown with air.   Similarly divinity takes the form of the body it occupies.  The form of Buddha, Rama, Krishna appears to be human but it
is divinity assuming the form.  Divinity is present all over.  You need not undertake spiritual practices for realising this.  If you realise all forms are His, you can easily achieve your goal.  Though you may read big spiritual texts, you may not realise the Truth.  The Atmic principle is the essence of Bhagavatha, Mahabharatham and Upanishads.

(At this stage, Swami materialized a tiny GOLDEN Book of the size of match box, to the wonderment of the crowd.  Swami showed this tiny book and turned the pages (small golden leaves) and declared that this tiny book, contains all the Epics such as Bhagavatham, Maha Bharatham, Upanishads, Ramayanam etc.  He added that each tiny page of the size of one and half inch by one inch contains 700 slokas.  Swami added that this is not available with anybody and it belongs to sage Vyasa and he handed over this to Sukha.  This also contains te Sukha Naadi in which there is detailed account about Swami.)

The form of Buddha, Rama, Krishna appears to be human but it is divinity assuming the form.  Divinity is present all over.  You need not undertake spiritual practices for realising this.  If you realise all forms are His,
you can easily achieve your goal.  Though you may read big spiritual texts, you may not realise the Truth.  The Atmic principle is the essence of Bhagavatha, Mahabharatham and Upanishads.

This is atomic principle, proclaiming God is everywhere.  Divinity is everywhere.  Atma is uniform in all beings but it has no specific form.  It assumes the form of the body in which it is resident. Just as the water in the tumbler takes the shape of the tumbler, Atma takes the form of body it occupies.  The body is only an instrument.  We worship the external form.  Divinity is within every one.  To know this truth, you need a preceptor.  If you have all ingredients for a lamp, it will not light itself.   Someone is needed to light it.  You need a goldsmith to make gold into jewel.  Flowers cannot be formed into a garland without someone stringing them together.  A, B, C, are letters of the alphabet. But you need a teacher to teach pronunciation of the letters.

Similarly, you need a preceptor to make you understand the difference between Atma and Anathma; Jeevathma and Paramathma.  Though Atma is in one and all, you need a teacher to proclaim this Truth.  That is the reason why Incarnations come to demonstrate the manifestation of Divinity and sanctify the lives of people, turning them in the right path.  God is Love.  Bhagavan has taken this form to demonstrate how to share Love and what is the form of Love and what is its significance.

Love in Bhagavan is selfless.  But love in others is selfish.  Divinity is selfless Love.  Only selfish love is in man.   Selfishness is anathma.  The individual Vyakthi should serve Samashti (society) and society to serve Srishti (nature) and Nature is creation of God.  In God there is Srishti (creation) Samashti (society) and Parameshti (Divinity).  The three forms, the three stages of time are all divine.

When individuals come together, society is formed.  A single individual cannot constitute society.  A single tree cannot become a forest. Single house cannot constitute village.  It has to comprise of many houses. So the necessity for unity by coming together cannot be over-emphasized.   When you have unity, you get purity and form unity and purity lead to divinity.  If you understand all are atomic, you will appreciate the necessity for unity.

The universe is the form of Vishnu.  Vishnu means all pervasive. Brahma is Cosmos.  You cannot worship Brahma, a single entity.  Body has many limbs.  A separate limb cannot constitute a body.  The cosmic form is the combination of multitudes of forms prevalent in the universe.

Sukha, son of Sage Vyasa left home to pursue spiritual path in the forest.  Vyasa, due to his attachment to son, ran behind him calling him," Oh, Sukha, my son, Stop.  Don't go away." Sukha stopped and told his father,
"You are not father.  I am not son.  Both are divine.  Why do you run after me with bodily attachment?" The cause for such weakness is Abhimana (attachment) and Mamakara (sense of of possession.) The Abhimana should be turned to God alone.

I hear some people say "I am meditating on God".  In this three entities are involved.  They are the person meditating, the meditation and the object of meditation.  Only when all the three merge into one, it is real Dhyanam (meditation).  Dhyanam is the unification of the Divinity.  In fact, 'I' refers to God and not to the individual body. Atma, karma and divinity getting united is Trinity and that is true meditation.  'I' should not be there.  God should not be there.  Then what remains is Dhyanam. Until there is merger of the three into one, any number of years, you spend in meditation is only a waste.  As long as 'I' feeling is there, no use of meditation.  'I' should merge with God.  Only when you merge with divine, it is Dhyanam.

There should be also the harmony in thought, word and deed. "Manasyekam, Vachaseka, Karmnyekam, Mahaatmaanam".  One who has the harmony in thought, word and deed is a Mahathma.  If you have the feeling "I am doing" it does not reach God at all.  Saint Ramana was once asked by a disciple as to how long he should meditate.  Ramana replied that he should meditate till he has no feeling that he meditates at all.  Where there is duality, there is no divinity.

Each drop of water consists of millions of atoms. Without atom, there is no water.

Without water there is no river:
Without river, there is no ocean.
Drop (bindu), water (pravaha) river (Nadhi) Ocean (Samudram). Basically it is water in all these.  It shows how atom enlarges into such huge proportion as ocean.  Atom also can parent of cosmos.  You must develop unity and enjoy peace.  Because of sunlight, the water in ocean is transformed as vapor and goes up in the form of clouds.  The clouds cause rainfall, which makes the rivers flow and finally reach ocean, which is the source.  You should understand that man has come from atom and go back to atom.  Atom is Brahma swaroopa (form of supreme power). A tiny seed sprouts and grows into a tree, which yields fruits bearing several seeds.  In
Gita, Krishna declares "I am the seed of all beings."  God is the seed. Universe is the Tree.  It has many branches in the form of any countries.  Each country has individuals, which are leaves of the tree of Universe.  All countries are branches of the same tree. The basis is the Atmic principle (Atma Thathwa), common to all nations.
Nations are many; Earth is one
Stars are many; Sky is one
Beings are many; breath is one
Jewels are many; Gold is one.
There is multitudinous variety in names and forms but the basis of Atma is one. So you should not abuse or criticize others.  Atma is one and the same in all. That is why Veda declares, "Ekam sath, Vipraha Bahutha Vadanthi". There is only one Truth, spoken of as many.  You must give up Anathma, that which does not pertain to Atma.  You must give up ignorance.  You are God and not separate from God.  The Avathar (Incarnation) has come to explain this Truth.  Avathar always proclaims Sathya and Dharma.  Rama taught people by his own example to follow Truth and Righteousness. Krishna practiced Prema Thathwa.  Jesus also first said, "I am messenger of God," and then after some years said, "I am Son of God", reflecting closer  relationship and
finally said, "I and father are one".  This final state of merging with Holy Ghost is Turiya Avasta, the climax of divinity.

"I and you are one" is true in the ordinary level.  But you should say, "I and you are we.  We and we are one."  This reflects the oneness, or Ekatma thathwa; which is taught in all sacred texts.  Unity is absolutely essential.  It is ocean of Grace.  The Rivers have independent names as Ganga, Cauvery, Krishna, etc.  Once they merge in the ocean they have no individual names and qualities.  All are one in the ocean. This is true merger.  They lose their individual quality and taste too.  When you consume an apple, it is connected to juice and distributed all over the body.  When you merge with the cosmic principle you become one.  You should say, "Unadayya Devudeu Unnadu" . God is there, even though you cannot see Him.  You cannot see air.  But you cannot deny its existence.  Without air you cannot live.  Similarly you cannot exist without God even though He is not visible to your naked eyes.  One God is common to all nations. There is no Pakistan God, American God or a Indian God.  God is Truth, and Truth is common to all.  2+2=4 is true to all countries.  Truth is God.  Love is God.  The person adopting and experiencing God has form though God has no form.

Scientists cannot say Atom has no form.  You need special equipment. We x-ray to photograph the inner bones and parts of your body, while ordinary camera can take only external form.  You need divine camera to see the
Divine.  Students click the camera to take photos of Swami when He is moving.  The pictures will not be clean.  If you say 'ready' and Swami is ready, the picture will be perfect.

God has chitham.  You do not know when it comes.  If you are ever-ready you can get a good picture. You should have full faith and pure Love.  This is readiness.  Full faith is the flash and it will help to get good picture.  So you have to develop the faith that "God exists".  Not even an atom can exist without God. You should try to understand and realise God.  He is beyond Time and Space. When you are relieved of your pain or illness, it is faith.  To be the recipient of Divine Prema you should understand the Paramatma Thathwa or Divine Nature.

(Bhagavan concluded the Discourse with the Bhajan, Sathyam Gnanam Anantham Brahmaa.)
