GIF format is fairly simple. It's the basic format for animated GIFs. - The basics about GIF format: GIF, or Graphics Interchange Format allows you to display multiple frames / images, one after the other, in a customizable speed. You can save images in .GIF format, by simply selecting GIF, in the drop-box underneath the title for the image you wish to save. GIF is usually located close to BMP and JPG. Anyway, just select GIF from the drop-box, and click on “Save”, and that's it! - Advantages, and disadvantages of GIF format: Well, the GIF format has more advantages, than disadvantages. I'll start off with the advantages: 1. It allows you to use multiple images / frames, one after the other (That's pretty much with this format is for, anyway.) 2. It allows you to make the backgrounds of your images clear (Transparent.) 3. It greatly reduces the size, and loading times of your images, compared to JPG format. Now, for the disadvantages: 1. If the image large in size, GIF format takes away from the color deph, making it appear “Gritty” in appearence. But the image has to be pretty big for this to occur. 2. Actually, there is no real other disadvantage. :-) Well, that basically covers the explanation for .GIF format. If you have any questions, post them in the forum. (The link for it is at the top of this page, in yellow.) |
