Chapter 4

----------------------------

Sakura lay awake in her bed, staring at the ceiling, millions of thought lowing though her mind. Did she really know that Li Syaoran? She could not remember if she did but she was ready to investigate.

"I am going!" Sakura stated firmly, her tone serious.

Touya sighed deeply outside Sakura's room, his ear pressed tightly against the door. "I knew this is bound to happen." He stared at the invitation card in his hand and slipped in into her room through the slit under her door.

"Sakura!" Touya shouted. "Your letter!"

"Got it, onii-chan!" Sakura responded.

From the door, Touya could hear Sakura's every movements. A few moments later, the invitation card disappeared from the floor and the door was opened. A frown marred Sakura's forehead as she read the letter enclosed in the invitation card.

"Forgive me?" Sakura read aloud in puzzlement. "Is this letter really for me?"

"It is addressed to you, Sakura," Touya replied and showed her what he meant.

"Oh.. but I don't understand! Why is this person asking for my forgiveness when I don't even know him?" Sakura asked, feeling a little ridiculous.

Touya patted Sakura's head and walked away. Sakura looked at the invitation card again. It stated clearly that Li Syaoran will be marrying Meiling. She suddenly wondered why their names sounded so familiar.

Murmurings could still be heard from the living room and thus Sakura knew that her group of friends were still there. Glancing at the clock on the table of her room, she knew that it was 3 in the afternoon. Sakura decided to tell them of her plans for the following since Li Syaoran's wedding would be held four days later.

"Er... minna-san..." Sakura said, hoping to get their attention.

"What's wrong, Sakura-san?" Tomoyo asked and shifted in the sofa so that Sakura could join in.

"I am wondering if you guys are free this whole week?"

"Yamazaki and I will be free," Chiharu answered.

"We will be, too," Rika and Naoko said in unison.

"Me too," Tomoyo answered. "But why?"

Sakura smiled sheepishly and told them, "I need you to accompany me to some place. Pack your luggage, we will be setting off tomorrow morning."

"You must be joking!" Tomoyo wailed. "Where are you taking us to? For how long?"

"A week." Sakura responded and walked away. "To Hong Kong."

"Oh my..."Rika gasped aloud.

"You are going to Li-kun's wedding ceremony?" Chiharu asked.

Sakura sobered down, "That's the only solution. Plus, it would be rude if I didn't go."

"But won't you feel sad, seeing your beloved humpf!" Yamazaki said but was silenced by Chiharu. "What's that for?"

Chiharu shook her head and Yamazaki remained silent.

"No one is going to Hong Kong!" Touya announced in a booming voice. "Without me."

"I heard that there will be an ancient book that is worth a few millions dollars in their gallery. It will be shown to everyone present on the ceremony," Naoko announced.

"Are you going to take it?" Rika asked. "It is worth a lot."

"Sounds good! So. when will we attack?" Sakura asked.

"Preferably not on the day we arrive, to avoid suspicion," Rika advised and Tomoyo agreed.

"we also have to know the layout of the whole mansion and plan an escape route in case of emergency," Tomoyo added.

Touya interrupted, "Are you guys attending the wedding ceremony or steal their property?"

"Both!"

"Okay, well, I am just asking."

"I can't wait for the game to start," Sakura announced. "Wait till I land my hands on the ancient book."

Just then, Tanaka-san ran into the house with a note in his hands. "Kid! The challenger!"

Sakura frowned as she took the note from Tanaka. "Thank you, Tanaka-san."

"No problem. I shall take my leave now."

-------------------------------------------------

Sakura sat on the swing in the King Penguin Park, dressed in her fighting outfit. It was already midnight and the person would arrive soon. She closed her eyes and swings herself, her skirt flowing gently about her. She heard footsteps and knew that he had arrived but she continued to swing, all the while her eyes closed tightly, emanating an aura of serenity.

"I see an angel on the swing," the person teased.

"I am flattered sir, but I won't be deceived by your vile lies," Sakura answered. "Who are you actually? What do you want from me?"

"You don't have to know who I am, Kamikaze Kaitou Kid."

"Why?" Sakura said and stood up, approaching the challenger.

"Just don't go to Hong Kong," the challenger advised. "It won't do you any good to go there anyway."

"Why are you telling me this?"

The challenger shook his head and left without saying another word, leaving Sakura staring after him.

-------------------------------------------------

The next morning at the airport...

"Otou-san, you have to take care of yourself. If there is any problems," Sakura trailed off.

"Don't worry, I will take care of your father," Yukito offered.

Everybody sweatdropped. "I guess otou-san will be busy cooking for Yukito- san," Sakura remarked and Yukito smiled sheepishly, scratching the back of his head.

"I guess you better go in now; the plane is going to depart very soon," Yukito said.

"Bon voyage! Be careful, Sakura-san!" Fukitaka said tearfully.

"Don't worry uncle, my costumes will protect Sakura-chan," Tomoyo added and everyone pretended not to hear it.

"Come on guys," Touya shouted and went through the gates.

"I will come back as soon as the thing is done over there. I promise you, otou-san," Sakura reassured and went in.

-------------------------------------------------

Two days later...

Syaoran sat on his bed the moment he woke up, dreading about what would be going on the next day. He would be marrying his cousin, Li Meiling, a girl whom he thought as his own sister. He admitted to himself that he did not love Meiling, although he tried to but his mid always strayed back to the lady who had invaded his life about a month ago.

A knock sounded on the door and he opened it after dressing up and Meiling lunged in, hugging Syaoran forcefully. "We are going to get married tomorrow and become husband and wife!"

Syaoran frowned, "I thought it was a custom for husband and wife not to see each other the day before wedding? It is a bad omen. How did you sneak out of your room?"

Meiling pouted as Syaoran pried her away, "The guard was still sleeping when I came out."

"I think you should go back to your room now, before you create problem for that poor guard," Syaoran told her.

"But I want to see you!" Meiling wailed, tears gathering in her eyes.

Syaoran sighed and requested, "If you go back to your room now, I will buy you everything you want."

"Really?"

"Yes, now go."

"Then, see you tomorrow morning!" Meiling said and took off.

Syaoran went to his balcony in the room and stared up into the sky, list in the beauty of a face he longed to see again. He sighed deeply and leaned his forehead onto the railing as he muttered, "Why did I agree to marry Meiling? It's Sakura I."

He stopped as he heard a gasp and he quickly whirled around, "Meiling?"

"What did you just say?" Meiling demanded. "If you love her, then why did you agree to marry me?"

"I..." Syaoran tried to explain to her but he just could not find the right words. "I am so sorry."

"How can you do this to me?" Meiling wept softly and buried her face in her hands. "I love you so much and in return, I got nothing!"

"I will try to make amends, Meiling," Syaoran promised.

"How? I am sure you do not want to marry me." Meiling sniffed. "What about the guests?"

Syaoran sighed and turned to look out of the balcony again, "The ceremony and the feast will still go on but we will say bi when the Elders ask if we agree to marry each other."

"I guess it is all we can do," Meiling agreed reluctantly.

"I am sorry."

Meiling giggled, "As long as you are happy being with her, I am contented."

Syaoran stared after Meiling as she exited his room. Though Meiling was feeling happy at the moment, he knew that she was feeling upset. After all, they were playmates since young.

-------------------------------------------------

On that day fateful day itself...

Syaoran stood in the altar, with his mother by his side and were in traditional robes. Guests were seated in neat rows of chairs on both side of the ceremonial room. "You do not look impatient to me son," Yelan commented.

Syaoran turned to her and asked, "Why do you think of that?"

"Your father," Yelan answered with a smile. "was so nervous and impatient on our wedding ceremony that he shouted at everyone."

"I am not my father," Syaoran stated firmly.

"I do know that."

"The arrival of the bride, Li Meiling!"

Everyone turned in his or her seats to watch as Meiling walked in gracefully, accompanied by her father, who handed her hand to Syaoran. Meiling smiled up at him and Syaoran returned a solemn smile.

"Since we are all ready, the ceremony shall begin," Yelan announced aloud.

"Wait," Syaoran commanded and the room hushed down to a silence.

"We," Meiling added. "are not going to marry."

"However, the feast will still continue as usual."

Just then, the door to the ceremonial room burst open. Revealing seven people. "Are we late?" A lady asked, smiling sheepishly.

"Sakura?" Syaoran asked, totally surprised.

"Eh?" Sakura gaped, equally shocked. She then turned to ask Tomoyo in a soft whisper, "How did he know my name?"

"Sakura!" Yelan exclaimed and bade her forward, which Sakura did out of curiosity.

Sakura went forward uncertainly, aware that everyone in the ceremonial room was staring at her, "May I help you?"

Yelan smiled and hugged Sakura tightly. Sakura let out a soft yelp and stared at her as she took her hand to put in Syaoran's. Yelan stood back and watched the two of them, nodding her head in approval. "The wedding ceremony shall continue, with another bride."

"Nani?" Sakura, Touya and Syaoran shouted out at the same time.

Sakura started blushing and tried to pull her hand away from Syaoran's. He countered by holding on to her hand even tighter. He leaned forward to whisper into her ears, "Don't you dare go back on your words. You promised me, don't you remember?"

Surprised, Sakura looked up at Syaoran and gasped, "You are that..."

Before she could continue, she was silenced by Syaoran's lips. She blushed but did not move away from his kiss. This angered Touya and pushed him beyond his limits.

"Do you agree?"

"Hoe!" Sakura exclaimed.

After a moment of hesitation, Sakura relented in a shy whisper, "I agree."

"Hey!" Touya shouted and was held back by a group of guards, specially trained by him. "Nani?"

Another group of guards belonging to him ran in and surrounded Sakura, separating her from Syaoran.

Then, Leiyunn strolled in and smirked at Sakura. "No time no see, Sakura. No, or should I call you, Kamikaze Kaitou Kid?"

"What did you just say?" Yelan asked.

"She is Kamikaze Kaitou Kid."

"I am not!" Sakura protested and tried to struggle free from the guards but to no avail.

"Leiyunn, she saved your life before!" Syaoran argued.

Leiyunn chuckled and told him, "I did not ask her to save me; she did it on her own accord."

"I don't even know you!" Sakura wailed.

He turned to the guests and told them, "What should we do with her?"

"Kill her, we do not permit thieves into our mansion!" The Elders said.

This activated Sakura's super duper reflexes. She did a flip to loosen the guard's hold on her and took out her sword, which was hidden on her back, under her clothing and pointed its tip at Leiyunn's throat.

"Wow, what an impressive legendary Kamikaze sword, with the symbol of Cherry Blossom on it," he remarked.

"Say no more!" Sakura hissed.

"You better not be rash; I have my gun pointing at your group of friends," Leiyunn warned. "I will release them if you put your sword down."

Sakura realized with horror that Leiyunn had captured her only weakness. She would rather die than to sacrifice other people. "How did you know my name?"

"Seems like you have lost your memory."

Sakura flung her sword aside in despair and said, "Let them go."

"Sure," Leiyunn said and pointed the gun at Sakura. "You did not say to let you go too."

Syaoran's eyes widened as Leiyunn pulled the trigger. A second later, a gun shot was heard and Sakura fell. Guests went wild as they made for the exit in frenzy. Leiyunn laughed out triumphly as Syaoran shouted, "Sakura!"
