Chapter Six: Wait For Me
Sakura ran all the way home crying her heart out and shunning the entire world. She hated that fate was so cruel and that life was unfair. She hated the fact that she had ever opened the Clow book and released the Clow Cards. She hated even more that Li had come to Reedington.
Sakura reached her house and walked up. She rang the doorbell, but there was no answer. Where’s Tori? She wondered. She knew that her dad was at a speakers conference, but Tori should have been home. Just wanting to be in the safety of her own room Sakura summoned her staff and called upon the Fly Card. She flew to her bedroom window and went in.
Once in her room she dropped her staff and the Fly Card on the ground and collapsed on her bed. She cried as she hung tightly to her pillow and fell into a light sleep. She awoke when the door opened, but didn’t bother to get up.
"Hey squirt," Tori spoke. Sakura didn’t answer, she was pretending to be a sleep. "Look Squirt I know that you aren’t sleeping, but it’s alright if you don’t want to answer me, just listen," Tori said sitting at the end of Sakura’s bed. "I know that you’re upset because Li’s leaving again, but that’s no reason to act like this. Li will come back and you know it."
"I know he will, but how long will it take? It took him four years to come back, but I can’t see not seeing him for another four years, it’s too long," Sakura explained.
Tori thought for a while, "But Sakura how would you feel if Li never came back? I don’t think that after how you ran out on him when he finally confessed his love for you that he’ll return to Reedington. Think about it Sakura." Tori left the room and Sakura felt alone in her world. Sakura stared out at the night sky and all the stars and fell asleep just wishing to have another day with Li.

There was a knock on her door and Sakura awoke. It was still night. "Sakura there’s a phone call for you," Aiden spoke opening her door up.
Sakura didn’t move or respond.
"I’ll just tell them that you’re sleeping," Aiden responded, "Li I’m sorry, but she’s sleeping-"
"LI!" Sakura jumped up in bed and answered the phone, "Hello?" Aiden walked away to leave Sakura to talk to Li alone.
"Sakura I just called to say good-bye, my flights in the morning and I didn’t want to wait until then to call," Li spoke sadly.
"Li I-" Sakura managed.
"But I have to know one thing before I leave," Li interrupted. "Are you worth waiting for?"
Sakura’s body felt frozen. She wanted to scream out, of course I’m worth waiting for Li Showran, but her mouth and heart wouldn’t allow it. Her heart told her to say something, but her mind screamed, no he’ll just hurt you again!
"I’ll come back to Reedington only if your worth it, or I have to forget about you. That was the deal I made with my mom. So tell me now Sakura, are you worth waiting for?" Li asked.
Sakura didn’t respond. If I say yes Li will come back, but how long will that take? If I say no then I won’t see him ever again.
There was silence on the other line, "Sakura I can wait forever on a decision that can effect my life, but please if you’re going to choose no, then stop wasting my time."
Sakura sobbed. Li’s voice was so cold and his last remark made Sakura’s heart break.
Both were quiet.
Sakura cried and when she finally could she whispered, "Li I can’t wait."
"Then I’ll take that as a no," Li responded.
"Li," Sakura couldn’t do or say anything else. A thousand ideas crossed her mind, giving her a million reasons to tell Li that she was worth waiting. How would you feel if he never came back? Tori’s comment echoed in Sakura’s mind. She released a heart breaking sobbed and Li couldn’t do anything.
He was the one responsible for making Sakura cry. It was his fault. "Sakura please don’t cry," Li begged.
"How dare you tell me to not cry!" Sakura shouted over the phone. "Li I don’t know! I don’t know if I’m worth waiting to you, but to me you’ll always be worth it!"
Li’s heart stopped. A tear fell from his eye and he wiped it away. "Sakura I-"
"Li I don’t know how to make you stay and I don’t want to make you cry, but," Sakura paused and stopped yelling, "Li I don’t know if I can wait." The phone dropped out of Sakura’s hand and she stood there in her room looking at the bear that he gave her.
"Sakura! Sakura please answer me!" Li shouted, but got no response. "Sakura I love you and always will, please answer me!" There was still no answer.
Sakura walked over to the bear that Li had given her. She gently picked it up and hugged it. She walked over the phone that she dropped and crawled into bed and cried.
Li hung up his phone seeing as Sakura didn’t want to talk to him anymore and began writing a letter to Sakura.
After throwing away five sheets of paper that he had ruined by crying on them he finally finished the letter and sealed it in an envelope. He left it on his desk knowing that Wei would take it to her house and started to pack.

"Sakura!" Meilin yelled in Sakura’s doorway. "Wake up!"
Sakura jumped out of bed, "Is it morning already?"
"Sakura I just came to say good-bye," Meilin answered to Sakura’s lost face.
"Oh," Last nights events kept playing in Sakura’s mind.
"Sakura my flights in a few hours so I have to go," Meilin explained. "I just wanted to say good-bye since I won’t see until next summer."
"Next summer?" Sakura questioned.
"Yeah I’m coming back," Meilin answered.
"Is Li?" Sakura asked.
"I’m not sure, he wouldn’t talk to anyone this morning," Meilin responded.
Sakura looked down at her feet. She was still in her dance dress and because she fell asleep in it the front was wrinkle.
"Oh and Li left this on his desk," Meilin handed Sakura a green envelope. "It was address to you so I thought that I should bring it over."
Sakura reached for the envelope. "Thank you Meilin," Sakura forced a smile.
"Okay I can’t take it anymore!" Meilin shouted and Sakura jumped. "WHAT’S GOING ON WITH YOU TWO! Did Li tell you or not?!?"
Sakura’s smile faded and she sat down on her bed. "He told me," Sakura replied.
Meilin sat next to Sakura, "He did?"
Sakura nodded. "Yeah, he did, but..."
"But what?" Meilin asked.
"But... he told me that he’s leaving... and I know that I can’t wait again for him," Sakura explained, her tears falling.
Meilin patted Sakura on the back, "But Sakura, once Li explains everything to his mom, we’ll come back."
"Are you sure?" Sakura asked.
"Yes, now what did Li write to you?" Meilin questioned pointing to the letter in her hands.
Sakura wiped her tears and tore open the envelope. She read it and jumped up. "Meilin where‘s Li?" She shouted.
"Why?" Meilin read the letter quickly and yelled, "He already left early in the morning. He should be boarding the plane right now! Sakura hurry up and change!"
As Sakura changed Meilin ran downstairs and explained to everyone, including the driver, and Madison, by phone, about the letter and having to get to the airport. Tori agreed that she should go and that he would pick up Madison and drop her off at the airport. Meilin helped Sakura pick out a outfit, with a green shirt and they left for the airport.
