The Song of the Waves-Chapter 2
"We're here!"the tour guide announced.
"Wow!"they chorused.
"Beautiful,isn't it?"the guide said proudly.
The lake was crystal blue and the trees surround the place,making it seem like heaven.A secluded heaven.
"Paradise indeed."agreed Syaoran.
"Let's go in."invited the guide.The trio went in.
"Sakura Kinomoto?"the receptionist asked.
She stepped forward."That's me!"
"Very well.The ticket says here only one can avail of a free stay."he began.
"Look,I paid for my own ticket."interrupted Li.
"If that's so young man and little lady,welcome to our resort,Paradise Inn."said the receptionist graciously.
"Seperate rooms?!"exclaimed Syaoran.
"But of course!Your ticket says 'suite' while hers says 'deluxe'."the guide explained while distributing the keys.
He shook her head,incredulous.
"Disappointed?"cajoled Sakura.
"Hah!Why should I want to share my room with you?Of course I wasn't disappointed because we'll stay in seperate rooms!Geez!"he babbled before entering his room.
Sakura stood still for a few seconds,not sure on what to do.
"You pissed him off."the guide commented.
"I dont understand.I only want to tease him because I got a better room".She mumbled.
She laughed. "Well Mr. Li doesnt see that way!"
She groaned.
Sakura laid her weary body on the bed.She was staring at ceiling,imagining
Syaoran's face.
"Oh man!Can't he let me sleep in peace?"she moaned to herself.
Outside she can hear the sound of the crickets and the swaying of branches.She opened the window to let in some air.
"The place is so serene."Sakura murmured under her breath.
Suddenly the eerie sensation came.She could hear soft hums in the air.
The sea of tears is calling
For a son that she lost
But once night light hides
He shall come back
He will return to our embrace
Sakura shivered.For a reason she can't explain,the hum was bringing her near to tears.
The door opened to Sakura's surprise.It was Syaoran.
"H-Hi!"she greeted uneasily.
"Can't sleep."he mumbled before lying down her bed.
"Hey that's my bed!"she protested but he already closed his eyes.
"Can't sleep huh?"she commented.
His eyes opened again."Somebody's calling me."
"W-What did you say?"she exclaimed,quickly flopping a seat down beside him.
"A woman..along-haired woman was singing.."he whispered,looking at Sakura with scared eyes.
Syaoran never shows fear!Sakura suddenly burst into tears.
"H-Hey what's wrong?"Li was quick to her side.
"Don't scare me...I'm scared of ghosts.."she pleaded.
"I know..I'm sorry.I won't mention her again."promised Syaoran,holding out his finger.
She rubbed her eyes and held out her fingers.They did their usual sign of promise then he tucked Sakura to bed.
"Sorry if I disturbed you.I'll go back to my room now."He began closing the door.
Again,the sensation crept on her nerves.She could see Syaoran walking away,then he was swallowed by a huge wave!She got out of bed and rushed
towards Syaoran to save him.
"Sakura,what the-"he was blushing furiously.
She looked up."S-Syaoran?!I uh thought you were drowning.."
He reluctantly released himself from Sakura's embrace."You're just sleepy.Go back to bed and have a good night sleep."
Hurt by what Li did,she pushed Syaoran out of the room and shut the door
on his face."Goodnight!"
The next morning..
"The lake is really beautiful!What do you think Sakura?"asked Syaoran.
He heard no reply.He saw Sakura sitting on a stone,writing something.A love letter to Yukito perhaps?He shook his head vigorously.No way!
"Why won't you talk to me?"shouted Li.
Sakura didn't even look up.
"Fine!I don't need anyone to make my vacation enjoyable."he shouted angrily.He stripped of his shirt and dove towards the lake.
"Let him stew!"Sakura muttered angrily while writing Syaoran's name in angry strokes.
"Look Sakura whatever did I do to you to make you mad at me?Tell me or else-"Before he could finish,a hand pulled him down below the water.He struggled to swim up,but the pull was too strong!
"Or else what?"challenged Sakura.But when after a few seconds he didn't reply,she glanced at the lake.She gasped.Bubbles were appearing on the surface of the water but Syaoran was nowhere to be found!
She dove down to rescue him.Fortunately,she found him and pulled him up.
"Syaoran!Syaoran!"She slapped his cheek but to no avail.She felt her heart stop."N-No.."She embraced him tightly while tears trickled down her cheek and on Syaoran's eyelids.
The teardrops woke him up."S-Sakura?"
"Syaoran,you're alive!"she laughed.
But the delight was short-lived because somebody pulled her down.
"Sakura!"Syaoran shouted.He dove again.
Meanwhile Sakura felt her lungs wanted to explode.She's running out of
breath!"Help me!"her mind screamed.
Then she felt arms on her waist and suddenly,she could breathe again!
She opened her eyes and saw Eriol peering at her face."Syaoran?Where is Syaoran?"she asked,her voice sounding urgent.
He smiled tenderly."He's fine,just tired."
She looked at her right and saw Li lying down on the grass,catching his breath.She let out a sigh of relief.
"So don't tell me you're on vacation too?"she asked him.
"Well,sort of."he grinned sheepishly.
"Quite a coincidence!"Li,who had recovered,remarked.Sarcasm was dripping from his voice.
He picked up his dry polo shirt and draped it over Sakura's wet body."Let's
get dressed before you catch pneumonia."
Sakura smiled,not only because he'd rather walk back to the hotel shirtless than leve her shivering.but also because of the genuine concern in his voice.
"Gotta go,Eriol!"she ran after her friend.
"My Sakura,you're a jewel."Eriol murmured to himself.
I hate her,I hate her,I HATE HER!Syaoran grumbled while marching towards his room.
"Syaoran!"a voice which he could hear even in his dreams shouted.
I love her!He turned around."What?"
"You didn't thank Eriol yet!"she gently reminded him.
He rolled his eyes."Yeah,I forgot to express my overwhelming gratitude for saving us."
She frowned."That's not a very nice thing to say!"
"Look Sakura!Being saved twice in one day is pathetic but don't rub it on my face!"He walked to his room.
Sakura followed him."You're right!You're pathetic!I almost died worrying about you back there but the only thing you rant on about-"she paused when she suddenly heard the familiar hum."It's back!"she whispered.
They were too scared to notice a man smirking at them.
