Disclaimer:
Cherry coke = Coca-a-Cola’s
Card Captor Sakura = CLAMP’s
Syaoran = Sakura (though I’m sure many wish for their own personal Syaoran)
Just wanted to get that straight. And I am not selling this for money, so nobody sue me!

Cherry Coke
by Anrui-chan

The class filed out of the bus looking worn-out, hot, and tired. They were stopping at a gas station for drinks after their field trip to Tokyo Tower (in which they had climbed many stairs and then descended, since their were too many kids to fit in the elevator). Mr. Terada ushered them out of the bus, Rika following close at his heels.

Tomoyo stepped off the bus, aiming her camcorder backwards. “Smile, Sakura. I want to get you and Syaoran coming off the bus…” Sakura smiled and blushed as she descended the bus steps. Syaoran glared at the camera. When he got to the ground, he crossed his arms.

“It was a beautiful view from the top of Tokyo Tower, don’t you think, Syaoran-kun?” Sakura asked as they waited for the rest of the students to get off the bus.

“Yeah, Syaoran,” Tomoyo whispered in his ear and motioned towards Sakura, “You seemed to be staring at something quite a bit.”

He blushed, “I…I was trying to sense if there were magical forces around…” Tomoyo just nodded to herself and smiled.

Sakura looked at them both, “What did you say, Tomoyo-chan?”

Tomoyo just smiled and gave Syaoran a knowing look, “Nothing.” Syaoran turned a bright red and glared at Tomoyo.

Mr. Terada looked towards the class, “Now while we’re taking this stop you can buy snacks or pick up drinks and don’t forget…this is a rest stop.” Some immature girls in the back giggled. Sakura’s cheeks blushed a faint pink.

As the crowd dispersed towards the gas station building, Tomoyo adjusted her camera, “I don’t know about you guys, but I want something to drink!”

Sakura cheered in agreement and grabbed Syaoran’s arm. Tomoyo just smiled and followed behind them as they went through the sliding glass doors. Some of the students were already paying at the checkout. “Better get something before everything’s gone,” Chiharu warned from her spot in line behind Yamazaki. He held a bottle of yahoo in his hand. Chiharu had a peach Snapple and a pack of grape bubble gum.

Tomoyo walked along the ‘cold’ wall where all the drinks were. Most of them were already gone, considering three grades had come along on the field trip. Tomoyo opened one of the glass doors and pulled out the last Dr. Pepper. Sakura stood with Syaoran behind her. They both reached out, and their hands touched as they both grabbed for the last bottle of cherry coke.

Both hands shot back, and Tomoyo laughed as she saw both of them blushing bright pink. “You can have it, Syaoran-kun,” Sakura offered in a soft tone.

He shook his head, not looking up because his face was still bright red.

Tomoyo aimed the camcorder at them, “Well you have a choice here… either Syaoran lets Sakura have it, or Sakura, you could let Syaoran have it…”

“Or,” Chiharu bounced up to them from the register, “You could share it! Me and Yamazaki share drinks sometimes. And the only other thing left to drink is Diet Sprite…” Sakura and Syaoran both shuddered. “It’s no big deal… sharing drinks,” she added, shrugging, and then bounced back to Yamazaki.

Sakura looked cautiously up at Syaoran. They were both really thirsty, and the store was unusually hot. There were no water fountains, and Syaoran even dared a look at the Diet Sprite. Sakura pulled some change out of her pocket, “I don’t have enough for a drink by myself anyway…”

Syaoran sighed and looked his pocket. Even if he’d drink the diet sprite, he couldn’t afford a drink alone either. Tomoyo looked behind back to the doors, “I think we’re getting ready to go soon…”

Syaoran looked at the bottle of cherry coke… it’s red label, the sweet cherry-flavored liquid swishing slightly back and forth. Then he looked at Sakura. She was staring at the cherry coke too. She swallowed hard and then closed her eyes and turned towards him.

“Here,” she dropped her change in his hand, smiling, “You can have it. I’ll drink something at home.”

Syaoran grabbed her wrist as she was about to leave, “No, we can share it.” Sakura blushed and smiled.

“Thank you, Syaoran-kun,” she whispered. She looked up and around. Tomoyo smiled at her from the line. “I think we should get in line then…”

Syaoran looked back, “Hai. We should.”

Yamazaki held a finger up in the air, “In Russia they use actual cocaine in their cherry coke, and in Syberia they add a flavorless alcohol to all their drinks to keep themselves from freezing.” Sakura looked at the bottle in Syaoran’s hands curiously.

Chiharu put Yamazaki’s finger down, “Don’t listen to him.”

Tomoyo finished paying for her Dr. Pepper, and Sakura and Syaoran stepped up to pay for their joint cherry coke. The cashier smiled at them, “You two make a cute couple.” A blush crept across Sakura’s face.

“I... I... we,” Syaoran turned crimson, “we’re not.”

“Aww, none of that,” the cashier waved his hand, “No reason to be embarrassed.” He leaned forward, “She’s quite cute you know.”

If it were possible, Syaoran turned a deeper color of red. He glared at Tomoyo as she giggled behind her hand. Sakura just gave the man an embarrassed smile.

“Time to get back to the bus,” Tomoyo interrupted, still aiming the camcorder steadily at Sakura and Syaoran. Syaoran grabbed the cherry coke from the counter quickly, still not looking up.

“It’s alright, Syaoran-kun. I know you don’t like me like that,” Sakura whispered from behind him.

He looked up at her, “Sakura, I...” He glanced nervously away and blushed yet again as he saw Tomoyo with the camcorder. He shook his head, “Never mind.”

“Everyone on the bus,” Mr. Terada shouted, ushering children up the school bus steps.

“We should get on,” Sakura grabbed Syaoran’s sleeve. He let her drag him along. Tomoyo trailed along behind.

As they climbed up into the bus, they could hear the sounds of lids being taken off and air escaping from the bottles. Yamazaki wore a faint brown milk mustache. Tomoyo sat down in a seat and took the top off her Dr. Pepper.

Sakura and Syaoran took the seat behind her. Tomoyo finished gulping down about a fourth of the bottle. She wiped her mouth and sighed, “I was so thirsty!”

Sakura and Syaoran both looked at the cherry coke in his hands. “So should you take the first drink or should I?” Sakura asked quietly. Syaoran stared down at the bottle and then handed it to her.

She opened it and took a few drinks, then handed it back to him. Syaoran held it for a moment, then took a few drinks too.

“You know, drinking from the bottle is like an indirect kiss,” Yamazaki pointed out from the seat behind them. Syaoran and Sakura looked at each other, then blushed and looked away.

“That would mean you and I indirectly kissed several times,” Chiharu said.

Yamazaki rubbed his neck, “I guess that would mean we did.”

They both turned as a few girls in the back of the bus sighed, “Awww.”

Syaoran turned to Sakura and cleared his throat. Sakura looked up at him, “What Syaoran-kun?” He took her chin in his hand and kissed her. All the girls on the bus sighed, and Syaoran quickly turned his attention to the floor. Sakura smiled and blushed.

Tomoyo smiled and touched her cheek, a dreamy smile on her face, “And to think I got it on camera!”

Syaoran whispered something. “What did you say, Syaoran-kun?” Sakura asked.

“Maybe sometimes… I do think of you in that way.”

She smiled and put her hand on his, “And maybe we should’ve shared a cherry coke sooner.”
