Turbulent Times-Chapter One
Disclaimer: I don’t own Cardcaptor Sakura, or any of its characters, (cries of anger) so there!
“Oh Tomoyo, I can’t stand it! He’s all I think about, and it’s driving me crazy! I wonder if it is this hard for him too.”
“You’ve just got to try and concentrate on something else. Maybe you can join some club, or something, to keep yourself busy.”
“I guess you’re right. I’ll look for something tomorrow, maybe I can get a summer job like Touya used to get. I’ll look for something on Monday. But it’s a lot easier to say than to do.”
It was a beautiful, sunny summer day, that Saturday. But Sakura hadn’t been enjoying the sunny sky, or the soft blowing of the breeze much. In fact, she hadn’t even noticed how truly beautiful the day was. All she had noticed was that their picnic site was next to the playground, where she and Syaoran had had many memorable fights against several opponents.
Tomoyo wore a worried look on her face as she saw Sakura drift off into yet another daydream. Ever since Syaoran had left back home, Sakura had gone through a dramatic change. All she could talk about was: Syaoran. This picnic had been another one of Tomoyo’s failed attempts at getting Sakura’s mind off of Syaoran. But it was always the same. Sakura would show up, cheerful, and happy as ever. But, as soon as they would sit down, Sakura would begin to review yet another one of her treasured memories of Syaoran. Sakura had had crushes before, but never had they been this hard felt.
‘It must truly be love’, Tomoyo thought. She was happy for her friend, ‘But it still isn’t healthy for her to be like this,’ she thought, worried, as she saw one, lonely, silent tear stream down Sakura’s cheek.

Meanwhile, back in China, Syaoran wasn’t doing very well either.
“Oh, just go and see her already! I’m tired of seeing you moping around all the time! If you miss her so much, then go!”
“It isn’t that easy Meilin!” Syaoran yelled back. Meilin had been taking every chance she got to tell Syaoran that he should go visit Sakura.
“I don’t understand, what’s so hard about it?”
“Nothing,” he sighed, “Just leave me alone, OK?”
“Fine, I’ll call you when dinner’s ready.”
‘He gets worse and worse everyday,’ Meilin thought as she went downstairs.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Tomoyo had just gotten home from her picnic with Sakura. She’d asked Sakura if she wanted to go to her house, but she’d said she’d rather not.
She sat at her desk, looking troubled. “I’ve got to do something, I can’t just sit around and watch her slowly rot away!” She burst out angrily.
“I wish I hadn’t lost Syaoran’s phone number, and I lost Meilin’s address too. What can I do, what can I do?” She thought, drumming her fingers on her desk. “I wonder if Eriol has Syaoran’s number. I’ll call him. Lucky I didn’t lose his phone number.” Tomoyo blushed as she thought of that handsome British boy. He called her often, and vice versa, and it seemed that Tomoyo and he were having their own little romance.
Tomoyo grabbed her phone, and began to dial the proper numbers. Finally, the phone on the other line began to ring. ‘I don’t know why I didn’t think of this sooner.’ She thought.
“Hello?” a women’s voice on the other line answered.
“Oh, Ruby, is Eriol there?”
“Yes, he is. Wait, while I get him.”
There were footsteps in the background, and Tomoyo heard someone say in a teasing voice, “Master, it’s your girlfriend” Tomoyo blushed.
“That’s going to cost you Ruby, now leave me.” Eriol retorted, in a rather nervous-sounding voice.
He picked up the phone and said, “Hello Tomoyo, how are you?”
“Fine, thank you. How are you?”
“Good as well. So, what’s wrong?”
“How did you know that something was wrong?”
“It’s in your voice, well, what is it?”
“Sakura isn’t doing well, she misses Syaoran terribly.”
“Ah, yes. I figured as much. She loves him very much, doesn’t she?”
“Yes, she does, but it isn’t healthy. She’s constantly moping, and he’s all she ever thinks about. It’s been a month, but it just keeps getting worse and worse. I’m really worried.”
“How can I help. I know how much those two love each other, they’re soul mates.”
“Really? Well, I wanted to know if you have Syaoran’s phone number, or address. Maybe if he came back, Sakura would stop moping.”
“That seems like a good plan, but sorry, I don’t have any of that information.”
“You don’t? Oh no, that was my only plan.”
“Well, tell you what. How about you and Sakura come and visit me in England?”
“Really? You mean it?”
“Yeah, what about it?”
“That sounds like a great plan! That’d sure get Sakura’s mind off of Syaoran! Thanks!”
“Great. Listen I’ve got to go, but we’ll work the kinks out later OK?”
“Sure, bye!”
“Bye.”
He hung up. Tomoyo was practically jumping off the walls, she was so happy! She’d tell Sakura tomorrow, after she talked to Eriol again.
~*~*~*~*~* Noon the next day~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Sakura was watching TV, when the phone rang. She got up to get it.
“Hello?” she said.
“Sakura, Sakura!” It was Tomoyo. “Meet me at the Penguin slide in 15 minutes! I’ve got something to tell you!”
“Hoe?” Sakura was about to answer, but Tomoyo had already hung up. “At least I’ve got something to do now.” And she headed off.
When Sakura got there, Tomoyo was already
waiting. “Well Tomoyo, what did you want to tell me?”
“We’re going to England.”
“What!”
“I’ve just got off the phone with Eriol, and he invited both of us to his house! We can spend the rest of our vacation there!”
“Huh?”
“Oh Sakura! We’re leaving in five days, I’ll handle everything, you just show up at my house at 9:00 am on Friday, with all your things packed!”
They talked for another half hour. Sakura was thrilled, and happy that she would be seeing Eriol again. She knew that Tomoyo was just trying to distract Sakura, and she appreciated it. She would talk to her dad as soon as she got home.
~*~*~*~*~That Evening~*~*~*~*~*
Sakura ran into her room, and plopped onto her bed. She was so happy, she couldn’t contain herself. As soon as Kero popped his head out of his drawer, Sakura seized, and gave him a big, huge hug.
“What’s going on!” Kero yelled. Sakura had caught him off guard. “What are you so happy about all of a sudden?”
“I’m going to England Kero! And you’re coming with me of course!”
“What!”
“Yep. Dad already said that it’s alright for me to go. We leave on Friday. I can hardly wait! This vacation’s been really boring so far.”
“I’m glad to see you’re finally getting your mind off that kid for a change.”
“Oh Kero, I really wish you two had been nicer to each other.”
“Yeah, me too.” Kero replied, rather quickly. “So, about going to England. Tell me, are English pastries any good?”
“Is that all you ever think about!”
“No! What about their videogames?”
“Urgh!” Sakura threw a pillow at Kero, throwing him off the bed.
~*~*~*~*~Thursday Night~*~*~*~*~
Sakura was in her room, finishing her packing, when Touya came in.
“Hey squirt. What-”
“Haven’t I told you to knock before you come in?”
“Fine. Knock, knock.” Touya said, sarcastically.
“Wow, you’re funny.”
“Anyway, what’re you packing for?”
“Where have you been? I’m going to England, remember?” Sakura said, rather surprised.
“What!”“Uh, huh.”
“I’ve been at work all week you dork! And you know I work all day! Why didn’t you tell me?”
“I don’t have to tell you everything that I do.”
Touya gave a sarcastic smirk, and replied, “Right, only the things you feel like telling me. Anyway, who’s going with you? And you’d better not say that Chinese baka!”
“He is not a baka!”
“That’s what you say.”
Sakura stuck her tongue out at Touya, and casually said, “Either way, he’s not going.”
“Good.” With this, Touya began to eat the desert that Sakura had brought up to her room after dinner.
Sakura glared at him. “GET OUT !” She yelled, pointing to the door.
“Fine,” Touya coolly replied, “But I’m taking your dessert.”
~*~*~*~*~Friday~*~*~*~*~*
That alarm clock rang at 8:00 am, to give Sakura plenty of time to get ready, and Sakura awoke, refreshed. Sakura jumped out of bed, with none of the normal grogginess she felt.
Kero awoke only a few minutes after she did. “Wow, you’re actually on time, and cheerful. You really are excited about this trip, aren’t you?”
“Yep, I am.”
Downstairs, Sakura’s father was busy making breakfast. “I’m glad Sakura has found something to do. She’s been very sad lately.”
“Yeah, and all for that stupid Chinese baka.”
“Now, Touya. You must understand that her feelings for this boy must be very strong, if it makes her this unhappy not seeing him.”
“I just don’t know what she sees in him.”
“I don’t know what it is that you don’t see in him. He is a very nice boy, and cares for Sakura a lot. He’s just as nice as that British boy, Eriol.”
“Now don’t get me started on him.” Touya said, with a scowl on his face.
“Now really. He is, after all, the boy responsible for this trip.”
“Huh?”
“Sakura and Tomoyo are staying at his house during their vacation, remember?”
“Hello everybody!” It was Sakura. She was running down the stairs to get her breakfast.
Nobody spoke, except for Sakura, who was babbling on, and on, about all the sites they were going to see during their trip. Touya wore a suspicious, yet worried look on his face the whole time.
“I think we’d better get going Sakura.”
“Oh, you’re right,” she answered. “Are you coming Touya?”
“No thanks squirt. I’m still pretty sleepy. But I hope you have a nice trip.”
“Thanks Touya,” Sakura gave him a big hug and said, “I’ll miss you.”
“I’ll miss you too squirt.”
“I’ll be back in about fifteen minutes, Touya.”
“OK dad.” His father gave him an appreciative smile, and Touya returned it with an innocent smile of his own.
It wasn’t until he heard the roar of the car’s engine dying away down to street that Touya ran upstairs to his room. “I never thought I’d have a reason to use this.” He muttered. He grabbed to phone, and began to dial.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Syaoran awoke to the ringing of his phone. He’d been getting up later and later nowadays.
“Hello?” He muttered, groggily.
“Listen you little brat! I’m saying this only once!”
“What! Touya? How the hell did you get my number?”
“Tomoyo dropped it here a while back, now listen!”
“I don’t have to obey what you tell me to!”
“It’s about Sakura!”
“What?”
“She’s taking a trip to England, and she’s going to stay with the British baka.”
“What? Not that loser!”
“I know. I want you to go there to keep an eye on her. Don’t think this means that I trust you, it just means that I trust him even less! And-hello, hello?”
Syaoran didn’t need to hear anymore he’d hung up on Touya. He knew what he had to do.
“Syaoran?” Meilin cautiously walked into his room. “What was that yelling?”
“Touya called.”
“What? But he hates you!”
“Yeah, he does.”
“Then... Wait a minute! What are you doing?”
“What does it look like I’m doing? I’m packing!”
“What? What for? Where are you going?” A shocked Meilin asked.
“I’m going to England.”
