The story would follow the true account of how this innovative musical group came to be, the genesis of Genesis, if you will. It would begin in somewhat present day, as Collins and Gabriel have their seperate, but equally as established, solo careers, and the rest of the group (Rutherford, Banks, Hackett, and Anthony Phillips) are still creating music in some form or another, just out of the spotlight. Collins and Gabriel will narrate the story, first Gabriel (since Collins didn't join until much later) and almost all of the film will be a flashback. The flashback would end just after Collins leaves the group, and well after Gabriel left the group, and sum up the last life of Genesis without the two leading men. Then we cut back to the beginning, which we learn is 1999, and the group takes the stage together one final time performing the song "Carpet Crawlers 1999." This makes for a good reunited ending, as if by this point they may not be the best of friends, and won't regroup, but they now know that they can share the stage again and relive the good times through the music. I really need to talk to Genesis expert Justin on this, so Justin when you read this, email me so I can get my facts straight. Anyway, I've been a Genesis fan ever since I first saw the video for "Land of Confusion" when I was a kid. I grew up with them, and the solo stuff from Collins and Gabriel. People always say that they are just another 80s pop group, but what those people don't realize is that Genesis created the 80s pop sound. Before Michael Jackson sounded pop and before Madonna even had a hit, there was Genesis. They were one of the pioneers of prog-rock in the early 70s, and the band started in the early 60s... how are they just another 80s pop group? Half of their material isn't even pop, its straight up rock. If you like Genesis you know what I mean, if not, go back and listen to 'em, dig up some of their earlier stuff. Then come back so you'll appreciate this Dream Film the way my friends and I do. Here it is, a film that more than anything else I'll put on this site really does need to be made, the SCP Dream Film of Genesis.

The music for this film will be a mix of original Genesis songs, mostly early stuff because the story will be set for the most part during the earlier years, and new versions of Genesis songs by other great artists. This will also let me (in some small way) live out another dream of mine, my Genesis tribute album concept, which is flawless.
Tonight, Tonight, Tonight.....David Bowie
That's All.....Pearl Jam and Tori Amos
Misunderstanding.....Elton John
In Too Deep.....Boys II Men
Turn It On Again.....Oasis
Throwing It All Away.....The Wallflowers and Bob Dylan
Invisible Touch.....Madonna
Mama.....Nine Inch Nails
No Son of Mine.....Live
Firth of Fifth.....Eric Clapton and Joe Satriani
Hold On My Heart.....Zwan
Abacab.....KMFDM
I Can't Dance.....Aerosmith
Congo.....Juno Reactor and Peter Gabriel
Dancing With the Moonlit Knight.....Savatage
The Carpet Crawlers.....Radiohead
Land of Confusion.....Marilyn Manson
This highly diverse list of musicians pretty much sums it up: no matter what their musical style, every music artist has been influenced by Genesis. This film should express the universal qualities of the music by having original Genesis songs and these new versions thrown in together. No original score is needed for this film, there will never be a moment when a Genesis song doesn't fit.
