TOP TEN:
Mindf**ks.

Yes, that is a technical term, used to descibe a film that is not only confusing and makes you feel really really dumb, but, for the most part, never really gives you a "truth." For instance, some movies have terrific plot twists (I dub them "Wow" endings usually) that hit you like a bullet between the eyes when they happen, but in the end you do know what happens.

Films on this list will (more than likely) leave you hanging or still contemplating the "how's" and "why's" long after you've seen it (possibly even after multiple veiwings). They are the kind of films that are either so bizarre or so genius that the story and the point are sometimes beyond human understanding, because the directors aren't human of course. They are alien Gods sent to confuse us with our own medium (film) so that when the invasion happens we'll be completely spellbound, still trying to figure out how we got to this point in the first place...

Okay, that's enough...

  1. Mulholland Drive
  2. Brazil
  3. Lost Highway
  4. Jacob's Ladder
  5. Perfect Blue
  6. eXistenZ
  7. Donnie Darko
  8. Pi
  9. Open Your Eyes/ Vanilla Sky
  10. The Game

Okay, I know that some of these do get tied up in the end, but not as well as the more popular ones...the "wow endings." All of these are films that leave that puzzled look on the veiwer's face, and some of these are movies people hate (because they couldn't get it... I'll never understand why people get pissed off at a movie because they're too dumb to understand. I still have no clue what the hell Mulholland Drive and Brazil are REALLY about, but I fault myself for not being smart enough, for not being on the same level of brilliance as the filmmakers). These are some of the best movies ever made, and I want to issue a medical warning to people: This website does not reccomend watching all of these back-to-back because of the unknown effects it could have on your mind. I don't refer to 'em as "mindf**ks" for nothin.'
