TOP TEN:
Werewolf Films.

Unlike vampires who represent sensuality and seduction, werewolf legends are more of our primal instincts. Killing and feeding. All emotion seems to disappear and are replaced by the need to hunt, the thrill of hunting. Very cool stuff that also translates well to film (except when overdone like the Howling series' sequels).

  1. An American Werewolf In London
  2. The Howling
  3. The Company of Wolves
  4. The Wolf Man (1941)
  5. Wolf
  6. Ginger Snaps
  7. Wolfen
  8. Dog Soldiers
  9. Silver Bullet
  10. Full Eclipse

A few to mention:

Teen Wolf... okay so it's a "Totally 80s" movie, but it's still pretty good, and in the late 50s there were a bunch of teen-based monster movies that this seems to draw from, the first of those to come out was, of course, I Was a Teenage Werewolf in 1957.

The Howling 3: The Marsupials... not a great movie really, but a very interesting concept integrating more legends about transformation than just wolves. These werewolves had pouches (the film was based in Australia) and it followed the lives of a family of these creatures trying to survive. Like I said, not exactly great, but not bad and a very original movie.

Werewolf of London... this was the first werewolf movie ever made (came out in 1935) and it was an okay movie, just not as good as what made it onto the list. But worth mentioning just beacuse its the first.

One that'll NEVER EVER make it onto my list is An American Werewolf in Paris which proved that computerized werewolves look more fake that the ones in 1935, and that just because you're a sequel to a classic doesn't mean you'll be considered one.. especially when your story is far-fetched, even for a werewolf movie, and the script is horrible.
