History
Salubrious Melodies began early in 1999... having evolved from earlier shows that Lucinda had presented on Blue Mountains Community Radio.
Originally she presented a show called "The Straightjacket"... a show whose name (after only one on-air stint) became "The Wall of Sound". Both of these early shows focussed heavily on the more obscure Australian bands such as The Whippersnappers, F.U.L.L., Pangaea, The Deadly Nightshades, Feast, Margot Smith and others. It also featured better known bands such as The Church, Custard, Nick Cave, Bughouse, Radio Birdman, and The Celibate Rifles. Sprinkled in amongst these greats was a whole host of original punk bands!
After a break, Lucinda returned to the radio more determined than ever to play EVEN MORE BANDS THAT WOULD NOT NORMALLY GET AIR-PLAY. Bands such as: Topnovil, Unpaid Debt, The Hassle Brigade, Neveready, Us and Fatso, Vicious, The Mad Dash, No Idea, Vial 8, Meanderthal, Caustic Soda, H-Block 101, The Living End, Mach Pelican, and the list goes on and on and on and on and on....!!
JB and Buntzy joined the team for a while, bringing a great new approach to the show! They co-presented the show alternate weeks to Lucinda for the last part of 1999 until JB departed to pursue an overseas adventure. Buntzy continued on... presenting a great mix of Australian and overseas punk/ska and other "youth oriented" music. At the end of the 2000 school year, Buntzy did his last show as a regular "Salubrious Melodies" presenter. He is sadly missed... But, he WILL be back as a fill-in presenter!!
Tim joined the Salubrious Melodies team in January 2001 and has been an excellent presenter, adding some quirky bands to the playlists!
For a while, there was an emphasis on WA bands (all to do with the next cd - which is in the pipelines and will be out early 2002). The favourite of these Perth bands being played is Lowdown (an AWESOME band that mixes the punk/ska genres with swing and reggae. From time to time, the show has become

In September 2002, Tim and Lucinda were joined by Brattacus in order to broadcast from the Blue Mountains AND Melbourne. Melbourne's 3WBC on 94.1 is the new home for the Melbourne Salubrious Melodies show and can be heard each Thursday from 6-8pm.
Sadly, Salubrious Melodies in the Blue Mountains came to an end in January 2003. It can still be heard in Melbourne on 94.1fm each Thursday. A BIG THANK YOU GOES OUT TO ALL OF THE PEOPLE THAT MADE IT POSSIBLE AND ENSURED THAT SALUBRIOUS MELODIES WAS A FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE FOR ALL INVOLVED!
