A
wrong that turns logic on its ear and makes us, peaceful and
caring people, out to be criminals. Our so called crime is using
Salvia Divinorum, a certain variety of the common herb, sage
in one of only two countries where it has been branded illegal
as a banned drug, Australia. So far our members are all over
thirty years old, mature, and hold respectable careers in different
industries. This is not a prerequisite to join the Crusaders
but its not your typical generalised description of a
group of druggies, and we do not consider ourselves to be druggies
with our use of Salvia Divinorum.
Some
of us will admit to being drawn to it by stories of its
apparently like LSD hallucinogen properties but the thrill
of it being a hallucinogen like LSD wore of quickly after
the first use. You see, it is not like an LSD type drug at
all, it truly has divine properties and it should NOT be illegal.
It
is very hard to explain to some one who has never experienced
a Salvia Divinorum induced "journey" just exactly
what it does without sounding mystical, spiritual or even
slightly religious in anyway. It is not just a hallucination
that it brings on like the generalised "snakes and spiders"
type LSD "Trip" it brings on mostly a state of "visions".
Even though the vision state only lasts a few minutes a drowsy
state can follow for up to an hour before normality returns.
The experience can also seem to be quite an ordeal.
It
can produce visions that are so powerful that even a former
atheist (this author) is now discovering a more spiritual
side to himself. The visions on average, from discussing and
reading other peoples, tend to help solve problems, bring
back forgotten memories and some also have a spiritual or
cosmic feel. Many also report entities of sorts, and some
have entities that have become common in their visions. One
of the entities most commonly experienced by those who journey
into "Salviaspace" as it is known is a female form
often referred to as "Lady Sage" in Western language
and as the "Shepherdess" by the original curators,
the Mazatec Indians of Mexico. Yes, it does sound strange.
But
it is not "Fun". As previously stated it can be
quite an ordeal, even uncomfortable. Some of us almost have
to "push" ourselves to partake even though we are
now quite experienced with using it and know the benefits
outweigh the uncomfort. We push on like swallowing bad tasting
medicine as we know that any vision we experience will help
us in some way and the positive afterglow, that can last for
days, will bring about happiness for more than just ourselves.
This is describing the opposite of a drug that could present
possible abuse, Salvia Divinorum seems to have its own
ability to self regulate. That last statement may sound almost
mystical but it appears to be so, we have also noticed this
effect.
We
love our country but not all of its laws especially
one which makes us normally law abiding citizens to be looked
at as a criminal.
We
call for the removal of this law and to free Salvia Divinorum
for further study on its benefits to human kind.
