New York, New Jersey, Kentucky and many other states

Joseph Carman was born October 10, 1745 in New Jersey. He married Mary LaRue about 1770. She was born February 24, 1753 in Frederick County, Virginia.

Their daughter, Phebe Carman was born about 1780 in Shelby County, Kentucky. Phebe married Jonathan Brown in 1799 in Hardin County, Kentucky.

Their three children include Caleb Brown whose son, Jonathan Perry Brown married Sarah A. Duty was born in 1834 and is the one that I am descended from. They married Springfield, Missouri and they left on the Oregon Trail for Oregon.

They had a large family and lots of little Browns while living in Wasco County, later Wheeler County.
