2 hours
Difficulty:
Easy
Clues:
This is a wide, nearly level trail. For the first mile or so it follows an old jeep trail up a streambed. When you come to a fence in the middle of the trail with a yellow square on one post, look behind for a small log. The Chili Ristra Letterbox (#1) is in the root area of this log hidden by rocks. Please be sure to rehide well. (alive and well as of 5/19/04)
Continue down the trail, when you reach the point where you have a choice, continue to follow the Long Canyon Trail. You'll go past a golf course on your right and up and down and over some rocky scrambles. You'll begin going West with the red sandstone cliffs on your right to the North.
Continuing down the trail, you will cross a rocky stream bed, ONCE and TWICE and THREE times! When you reach the stream bed again, it seems to hit the red sandstone cliff. Don't cross the stream, this is where I turn around. Go back and recross the stream and count 35 steps to a "Y"-shaped log on your right and a couple of large black stones on your left. The Concha Belt Letterbox (#2) is under a rock in the "V" of the "Y"-shaped log. Remember to rehide it well from other folks on the trail. (alive and well as of 5/19/04)
Now you can continue back to your car.
Please read the waiver of responsibility and liability.
